The answer Is No, No team can keep a successful power play going for any length of time and more Importantly the power play gets way to much attention. |

Darren Helm, gets a free pass? why? wtf does he do out there.
it only took coach dummy almost half the season to scratch Nielsen/Filpulla.
i dont get coach dummy with these younger players (G.Smith comes up here and is sent down, Rasmussen in and out of the lineup, Svech is player of the week and has been scratched since)
also, the team isnt really that improved from their record at the half way point compared to last year. i think they are one point better this season.

Zadinas hands are so filthy. The way he generates offense with those nifty little moves.. his through the legs in 3 on 3 the other night had my jaw on the floor as well as the move he just made on the PP.. |

He’s closing in on being their best forward imo. |

That's technically true, but I still think this year's team is fundamentally much better than last year's. Before the year started I said something to the effect of "this might be the most improved team in the NHL and they still might finish last" and I don't think I was too far off honestly.
Last year's team was only 1 point worse through 27 games, but their goal differential was also quite a bit worse (-44 versus -34).
Also, last season through 27 games, the trio of Larkin, Bertuzzi, and Mantha had scored a combined 28 goals. This year they had 16 coming into tonight's game.
Despite the fact that our top players have either been injured or underperfoming, this year's team is staying ahead of last year's pace. The supporting cast is better. The defense is much better. If Mantha can find a way to turn his game around, Bertuzzi can get back in the lineup, etc. I still think this team is fundamentally capable of "bad but respectable" hockey. Whereas last year's team really never had a chance. |

But yes I totally agree. He’s finding his way fairly quickly Much more of a playmaker then I originally expected. |

i get what you are saying about injuries. every team has injuries, (see tampy missing their best player for the season). I measure coach dummy on the development of the younger players so lets go down the list:
Larkin-looks like the usual player we see
Bertuzzi- injured so his evaluation is incomplete
Mantha- has not had a good season
Zadina- has look great
Rasmussen- in and out of the lineup, hes developing i guess
G.Smith- currently out of the lineup
Svech- currently out of the lineup but made a impression when he was
Cholowski- hasnt played a game ...
for me its a mixed bag..
heres a example, darren helm is consistently in the lineup but provides little to no impact. at this point why not give g.smith / svech a shot who have both shown promise in limited minutes.. |

Here maybe I can help.
Ras is nothing more than a bottom 6. Cholo, smith, and Svech are nothing more than fringe NHLers.
Blashill will be gone after this season. Young guys will get opportunities after rentals are moved. |

I don’t see cholo making it as a NHL regular.. but that’s just my opinion and I think he should have at least played one game considering staal plays every F’n night. Rass should be in full time as well as svech.. I’m not really sure I understand why their not. I like G smith but I think he’s better off down this year so we can move some of these vets. |

I'm not really going to make much of an effort to defend Blashill because I also think he is not especially good at his job. |
