11 shots through 2 foe Boston
- wcorvette

Rangers played great today, shut out the B's any only allowed 18 shots. Boston has been in a funk for a few weeks now, I think they need to play the Flyers. Same ol' issues with Boston, no little secondary scoring and lots of injuries to their D.

Chara was available for less than a million bucks... just saying

Also Friedman at a million is prob a better fit on this team than Gus at 3..

Well to this point Fletcher has not really listened to him much. Let's hope that continues. Not at all a fan of Dave Scott. He should stick to the business side and let the hockey people run the hockey side.
- MJL

Ah, but the two sides are so tightly coupled, bad hockey team means low revenue.

This isnt necessarily correct. Flyers can grab Ekholm for this season and expose him in the expansion draft. Obviously to go thris route you dont want to give up too much to get Ekholm

Flyers could also protect 8 skaters + Hart and protect 4 Dmen

Flyers could Keep:

Giroux
Hayes
Konecny
Couturier
Provorov
Ekholm
Myers
Sanheim

This would expose:
JVR
Voracek
Ghost
Patrick
Lindblom

Which isnt too bad IMO. You said it yourself Patrick is likely a career 3C, Lindblom is one player Id hate to lose but given his struggles this year maybe they pass over him

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yeah exactly. I get if people don’t want to send assets out for a guy like ekholm, but if the expansion draft is the reason to me, that’s crazy.

Let me ask this. In all seriousness, JVR has been a revelation this year. But we aren’t far removed from a time when everyone would have unanimously ripped up his contract if they could. If seattle were to take him if he’s left exposed, no deals/picks etc, just simply you know somehow that’s what they want, has he played himself into must protect category?

I think they need some practice time. I’m glad they’re giving hart a bit of a breather away to re set and just work with the goalie coach a bit. Let him get technically back in synch
- Hextall271
Agree...he's a kid...give him a few games to sit and watch and he'll bounce back

Speaking of star power...

JVR is currently a top 5 left wing.

No, I wasn’t expecting that, but it’s a fact. He even fits PT’s drafted top 5 normal star profile.

- NC Flyers Fan

No, he is currently in the top 5 in scoring in a very small sample. That doesn't make him a top 5 LW. He is not in the top 30 LW in most lists. Giroux would be ahead of him there for sure.

I wanted them to win the lottery that year, so they could select Kane. I was so sure he was a future hof player I even had a jersey with 88 on it. That’s proof.

Also, I knew that Patrick wouldn’t be any good. I was so convinced, I went out and bought a number 19 Patrick jersey his rookie year. Again, Empirical proof that I can predict anything and 50 percent of time it works. Every time. Sarcasm alert activated.

- Hextall271

Don't give up on NP yet. If he was signed to a big deal, that would be different. But crises of confidence is not the same as lack of skills. Many young players oovercome the former.

That’s because we all know it wasn’t a true rebuild. Hextall tried to keep the Flyers competitive while trying to replenish the farm system. I don’t think he was waiting for Giroux and Vorecek space being freed...(frank)...I can see a 5 year plan, I’m pretty sure no one signed up for an 8 year plan, which is the time frame needed for the Flyers to divest them selves of those contracts....besides they signed JVR...so obviously Hextall was starting to make moves for the “right now” before he got canned.
- landros 2

I think it was longer than a 5 year plan. I think if people were told that, they would have freaked. I think JVR signing was part of the minimum necessary for the balancing act. I don't think JVR was a right now towards contention. It doesn't make sense.

But this is pure conjecture. Your take is as good as mine.

How many teams that have a player in the top 10 in the league haven't won a Stanley Cup with that player?

Since you are committing the exact same 4th grade logical error you have committed 25 times, I am afraid I can but remind you of the last time this came up and re-post my response, which was in 2020 and not 2007 and urge you, as a well-wisher, to seriously have a check up for your memory issues, which I have seen deteriorate over time right here.

Hope your family is doing ok.

Man your are obsessed. Haven't been there since 1998. But you are in the ballpark. I went and bought some Hoegardens.

Hey look dawg, you seem like someone who would appreciate a tip about a place where other dawgs in the know hang, where you can go and see and even touch some wussy, some bondage, some cages, some naked dancing, all for free.

It will cost you to bring a female dog home, but you can do it.

Ok I am posting a link to a place that you visit at your own peril fellas. It has graphic pictures of all of the above. If you actually go there, it can truly affect your relationship with your family.

You are warned

See you guys after this

I'm sorry, but Nashville is not going to give you a discount because you tell them you are going to do something really dumb and leave a player like Ekholm unprotected. What are we holding on to here?? This team is not good and their prospects are not as good as we had hoped, we need to make some moves. I'm sick of this mediocrity.
- jd250

Where did I say anything about a discount? I said if the price isnt too much which we still dont know what the price is. As GM you look at the price to add the player and you determine, is the price we are paying worth potentially having him as a rental. Ekholm is not a #2 Dman. He is a good Dman one that will make our team better but he isnt going to come in here and magically make us defensive juggernauts.

Its a buyers market this year. Prices will be cheaper. Many teams have been told they dont have the money to add players because of COVID. The longer teams wait to sell, the less they are going to get for them. You are also assuming Ekholm wants to be here. With one year on his contract he could say to the Flyers that he has no plans of signing with them past his current contract.

Obviously it turned out to be longer and probably a good reason he got canned. I can see a rebuild taking 3 years or less. But you start talking five plus years, you’ve probably drafted like shift and made some poor decisions with trades and free agency. It ain’t easy or every one would do it.

You dont know that..... I hate when people say this because this isnt a video game. Ever FA is not freely available for you to just take. The player has to WANT to sign with you. Not only that we are talking about a 40+ year old Dman.

He was thinking about retirement. We dont even know when he decided he was going play another year. To add to the matter the needs of PHI and WSH are not even identical. PHI needed to replace Niskanen. They cant just sit around and hope he decides to play again and if so does he want to go here. WSH signed him to be a 3rd pairing Dman. We need more than that.

We gambled with Gus it didnt work out. Fletcher's main target was TJ Brodie which he lost out to Toronto on and he has played well for them.

Posts like this don't do your credibility any good. Neither does posting some ridiculous homemade graph or whatever you want to call it. it's actually very funny that you took the time to make that.

On what basis are you claiming that I have this memory issue?

Now my President is throwing his GM under the bus and running him over a few times to boot! As senior partner and GM of the Flyers, I might have to get a new President!

If the Flyers get Ekholm without trading Myers or Sanheim, which would be preferable, then the Flyers would have to protect 4 defenseman in the upcoming expansion draft but that would mean they would expose every forward except G, Hayes, TK and Couturier (Farabee is not eligible for the ED). If they decide instead to protect 3 D and 7 forwards, then either Sanheim or Myers would have to be left unprotected. So you have to consider this when you trade for Ekholm. I for one could care less because I don't believe Sanheim or Myers will ever be top pairing D, but you have to at least think about it.

- jd250

Not sure why you're posting this. We've gone over the effect it would have on the expansion draft umpteen times. Do you think you're providing new info here?
For the record, you would never get hired as my "GM".

The current "top" in a position is not synonymous as currently "top in stats over a small window of time". Sometimes in such small windows, stats can be skewed.

For example, currently, AO is 23rd in points for the LW position. Would you really exclude AO from the current top 20 LWs in hockey? Because you would, based on this criteria.

It's actually not true that the longer teams wait to sell, the less they are going to get for them. There's a reason why the market heats up as you get closer to the deadline. A players remaining cap hit decreases as you get closer to the deadline. The closer you get, the more likely more teams get the cap space to acquire a player. More teams involved starts a bidding war. Injuries can happen that open up interest for another team.
