The current "top" in a position is not synonymous as currently "top in stats over a small window of time". Sometimes in such small windows, stats can be skewed.

For example, currently, AO is 23rd in points for the LW position. Would you really exclude AO from the current top 20 LWs in hockey? Because you would, based on this criteria.

Check your facts. Ovechkin is tied for 18th in points among players listed as left wings on NHL.com.

24 games is a significant number of games. It's more than half of the current season.
