Jeremy Laura: Wings vs Hurricanes part V - 3 day chili or microwave steak?

I think Brindy will join Ronnie Francis in Seattle. They can overpay him. Will Dundon match it? Maybe. Maybe not. I think Detroit wins this one. Again. I don't know why. Last time I thought this they won. Playing this Canes team is tough. They're structurally sound and they bore you to death. It's like watching The English Patient back to back. Microwaving a steak is just wrong. I'll take the 3 day chili.

Hmmmmm...Taco Tuesday...."but nuthin beats the pepper steak at the Illinois State Pen!" Sorry, had to got here....food makes me think of the Blue Brothers & Aretha Franklin!!

So, heard the game the other night, sounded good. Was cleaning carpets at the house, so was forced to listen v watch. Mantha seems to be picking up the pace...nice to see. Wondering how the Wings can hang w/the 'Canes. The thing is that Carolina's just straight-up stacked. It's hard to hang with the big dogs, but every now & then, we seem to pull a fast one and eeek out a win. Hopefully this happens tonight. Would REALLY like to see Greiss get some run support, that guy deserves a win. Bernie stands on his head as does Greiss, but would be nice to notch a "W" for Thomas.

For some reason, 11/7 seems to be working for Detroit. It's almost like we have our collective backs against the wall and makes them take another step up in intensity. It's not sustainable, but gives Blash a bit of a chance to supplement his "blender line-up technology"...

"Are you the Red Wings?" "No, Ma'am. We're musicians." Who shows up tonight?

Microwave steak should probably be banned. I only had it once, by accident. A really crappy restaurant in Petosky (chain). Our food came really late and i could tell the steak had been “reheated”. It was awful. The only really good beef leftover I like growing up was my dad’s roast beef. He’d make it a little too rare on Sunday, but on Monday he’d bring home fresh baguettes and we’d have French dip. It was perfect. I’ve never had a better French dip sandwich than from my British step dad. Figure that one out

Yep, go up to the media booth, “we play both kinds of music. Country AND Western”. Play the game and wrack up a 4 figure bar tab! That movie was a big part of me learning to play guitar. Matt Murphy and Steve Cropper, so good. I used to play harmonica along with a “live from the house of blues” CD where Akroyd was playing. For a band that started as a skit, man I loved those guys! The sequel had Clapton, BB King, Jonny Lang, John Popper, Dr John, Buddy Guy and a crap load of talented guys! So many good memories. Now I’m going to get some dry white toast and 4 fried chickens. And, I am wearing sunglasses at night...

You have had a good track record on predicting wins. You may be right about Seattle. That would be a huge get for them. Though, they’re late on the last payment so they can’t recruit college free agents (yeesh). Speaking of, on the same day some free agents are signed, Vesey is on waivers. Buyer beware...

The problem with microwaving steak is it gets dry. Like eating show leather. Chili (my wife makes a MEAN venison chili, dude) gets the flavours all mixed up.....LOVE 3-day old chili!!!

If any of you really like steak I recommend getting in the sous vide world. Also Mayo sear makes the best crust.

My wife's niece did an internship at the Smithsonian. The Colonel, Steve Cropper, donated one of his guitars....the one he played at Bob's Country Bunker. I held that guitar....and wet my pants. Twice. When you look at the bands that the guys from the BB played in, you'd be duly impressed. Cropper played with Booker T & The MGs, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett (as did Duck Dunne)...dude abides. Matt Guitar Murphy played for Howlin' Wolfe, Buddy Guy, Etta James....that band was seriously legendary. I literally ran into BB King outside of Pat O'Brien's...All I could say was "Holy SHIP! You're BB KING!!!"....he looked at me & said "Holy SHIP. You're right." winked and walked away. Again, I wet my pants. Twice.

"You better not blaspheme in here. DON'T you blaspheme..." Wings by 1 tonight. And that ain't no blaspheming...

I will look that up! When I was a kid we had friends that would soak flank steak in red wine before grilling. Amazing
