For being arrogant ignorant you get a repeated dose of reality.

Canucks seem to have the P1 Covid variant from Brazil cause BC now the hot spot for it.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/...rried-outbreak-worsening/

“This variant is not only more transmissible to people, but has also been shown in some parts of the world to be less amenable to the vaccine,” said Henry at the press conference today.

But hey P1 is just another Flu they are dying from in Brazil... I guess you'd say. Maybe Carol will have the Forbes scoop in the next blog.

Hello my friend.

Good post. People need to wake up to this very contagious virus and hope we don't end up like Brazil.

The vaccines are less amenable to P1. Whistler P1 cluster may be source of Canuck outbreak while they were off.

I doubt Canucks were vacationing in Whistler on their two day break.

I also don’t think there is enough data to back up your statement that the P1 variant is resistant to the current vaccine. Yes, it spreads about two and a half times more rapidly, and lately it has been especially effective at infecting the 20-40 group, but I think that’s more to do with the level of socialization in that group than it is about their age.

I think his point is that the variant is different. We have a Canuck who’s been infected by covid already so he should have antibodies naturally. He is now infected a second time in less than a year with a covid variant. Zero immunity. That’s concerning.

He is also much smarter and trickier than we gave him credit for. Making multiple virus variations that evade his own vaccines so we have to take more vaccines? Brilliant.

I didn't say team was vacationing there but the cluster may have been the source. Also the term used by the post from sourced link of Dr. Henry was "less amenable" not resistant.

Plus before you posted this was adding to post about re-infected player and other vaccine issues.

Basically, what you are saying that: "vaccinated players would have prevented the current Canuck circumstances" is false or misleading.

A few weeks ago a glass manufacturing plant in Vancouver had vaccinated employees and there was an outbreak.

I agree with you on concerns with anti-bodies. Last March 2020 I raised the issue with spread leading to mutations and stronger forms. The Variants are here and it's no joke.

It's just a flu.

We all know this. Like Don was saying the other day it's no biggie, they should just shrug it off and get back to playing hockey

Maybe, but that is a stretch. And yes, Vaccinated team would have meant the current outbreak wouldn’t have happened, especially to the degree it has. But the point is moot because players have not been vaccinated.

Obviously wishing the best for all those affected and hoping for no major complications. Health is so much more important than sports.

I think the ones i personally feel for the most are the younger guys who live alone. I can only imagine how scary it would be to be in a foreign city with no one around to help you struggle though.

I don’t believe this. Were the glass makers making glass for hospitals? Or do you mean Vancouver Washington?

He’s got it half right. Vaccines were offered after the outbreak.

I didn't link it because CTV had it half right as after P1 infected a vaccinated worker there during outbreak. I have inside info on this and other issues. That is another reason why Dr. Henry recently stated vaccine is less amenable to P1.

But they have 2 policy reasons not to promote publicising. One is not to invalidate the efficacy of vaccination. They are just rolling it out and need the public to get some form of protection. Plus the data is not sufficient enough to list certainty. Just like in the beginning they were not saying Covid was airborne transmissible.

There is a lot going on and statements like the one's Vintage makes are naive but he's not alone. The battle to combat the variants has just begun. To what extent this effects regular life and our fix for Canuck hockey is at the very least unknown.

Antibodies don't last for forever.

Kind of why the flu shot is a yearly thing.

I think the irony if they had to use points percentage to determine the north division standings due to a covid outbreak might be enough to break the thread.

True, but we’re talking less than a year with a flu strain that is more virulent. In the past we successfully contained the flu with vaccines because it was relatively stable. Now, the strain is mutating rapidly and it’s wreaking havoc.

I remember many, many times over the years when a pro sports team would be hit by a flu bug. One time in particular was a playoff series between Canucks and Blues. The Blues were a much better team but then got the flu. Canucks won in seven.

Point is, we used to be able to deal with it and keep society functioning. It’s different now.
