I suppose it's possible. 10 days elapsed between the last game against Montreal and Gaudette's positive test.

But case numbers are up in the Vancouver region, and this P.1 variant really took hold in Whistler over the last couple of weeks. Given that people who are travelling to Whistler generally come in by car, through Vancouver, and people who live in Vancouver go to Whistler (especially during Spring Break, which just happened), it's not hard to imagine that this is community transmission of a variant that's even more contagious than the already-very-contagious original Covid-19 strain.

I believe it was spring break last year that was the spark for igniting the Covid torch, especially in Quebec and Ontario, before the borders were closed. This year instead of Palm Beach people went to Whistler, Tofino, and I’m sure the Ontario crew could list the cabin country locations.
