goto the net yes, slow No. we won the hino deal I guess but loss this one Big Connely would make $1 mil per year next year if he was a UFA so we are taking on 2.5 mil extra for 2 more years. - kmw4631
How is this a loss? We gave up Carlsson and the two young players we got are either still developing or have a high ceiling in the Fin.

So with Carlsson moving on does that mean that de Haan stays for now? And Soderberg is as good as gone, wonder if he goes by himself or another multi player trade. |

they aren't winning the cup this year.
When was the last time Walmark played a game? THey have the cap room, and they got another younger D man, and a guy I am willing to bet they scouted HEAVILY and felt hes find a role the Hawks feel they can use at the NHL level.
Not like they dealt some emerging younger D man and/or F and got this back....what did they really give up? - SteveRain

the general trade boards make it sound like FL won this trade pretty big. - kmw4631
Huh? All Florida did was clear $ to go after someone more expensive. They may get a few serviceable years from Carlson in the future but this is simply a set up for another move.
And the Hawks really didn't hurt themselves. Connelly's salary is offset by Seabrook, Shaw and maybe Toews on LTIR. Janmark, Smith and a couple others off the books after this year and the Hawks will lose one contract in the expansion draft.
The Hawks' return is a bad contract, 2 maybes and a lotto ticket. Really just minor moves for both teams when you look at it. |

What happened to Connolly's production this year? It's fallen off a cliff. Has he been injured this year? |

Anytime we get a player currently playing in Europe, I’ll give the Hawks the benefit of the doubt, as they have a pretty good track record scouting over there. |
|
|
|
Will Connolly be protected in the expansion draft and if not will Seattle select him?
Borgstrom seems to be the key piece, a center, a position where the Hawks aren't deep. |

I was saying we need players that goto the NET (YES) but we do not need players that are slow. we are not a fast team to start with. - kmw4631

lin a flat cap era getting out of a player that is being scratched 1/2 the time and has 2G and 2A in 21 games that is being paid like a 2/3 liner but playing like the 13th forward. look at all the players that are getting waived and no one is grabing any of them? - kmw4631
It really doesn't matter, if Connolly is 1 bad contract at $3.5M for a couple of years so be it. Soderburg, Hinostroza, Carpenter, Highmore and Zach Smith will all be gone at the end of the year or sooner. Janmark probably too. And Shaw will go the LTIR permanently also.
And they can always buy Connolly out. |

Exactly, this is just like the Hinostroza deal but better in that (A) not much was given up in either trade, and (B) Borgstrom is a high reward (medium risk) prospect who can play center.
As others have noted Carlsson was inching towards being the odd one out either way this season due to being possible expansion fodder and being lower on the D prospect depth chart with the rise of others like Kalynuk, Phillips, and Kaiser.
Wallmark was expendable whether he was playing or sitting so no loss there. He was expected to be gone anyway being on a one-year contract. |

Which is entirely possible to a team needing forward depth for the playoffs. Or to a team that needs a body because they traded a few of their forwards. |

Does it seem like they became higher on Regula long term than Carlsson? Would like to see Regula paired with Mitchell or Beaudin w/ heavy mins in Rockford if so. |

Anybody know if this move (taking on the connelly contract) would hinder any future chance of Stan using his LTIR/Cap Space to help out a team...just wondering if we are still in the running to get something accomplished for this trade deadline... |

So Henrik Borgström played with Ian Mitchell at U of D. He's currently playing in Finland on a team that hasn't played in several weeks due to Covid.
A bit of a stretch I think but he could be okay. |

SCOUTING REPORT
Owns a supremely projectable frame and loads of scoring and two-way upside. Can snipe goals as well as be the playmaker on a scoring line. Is anything but a finished product, as he tends to run hot and cold too often. Must fill out his lanky frame and find a greater consistency level.
Long Range Potential: Big, talented center with upside.
Put him with Kane next year, see what he's got |

Bowman statement: “We are receiving a very exciting, young player with a bright future in Henrik Borgstrom. He is a high-end talent and we think he has the ability to be a big time player for us..."

Yes, Regula also is primed to have greater upside than Carlsson. Good puck mover and excellent shot but needs to improve in his own end especially when under duress.
Although out for the season and has one year left on his ELC, I also wouldn't count out Krys. He at least gives a darn on defense. His head knows what to do but his strength needs to catch up. |
