Just wondering about the purchase of Rockford Ice hogs, do you think that the team will be renamed, and then (as some other AHL teams have the NHL team name) will this name be used for the Chicago NHL franchise? Is there any insight on what kind of pressure there is to change the name/logo of the team, especially since United airlines has gotten stupid and is now playing political games. |

Yes. What's the story with Soderberg?
Hasn't played the last couple of games and I don't recall seeing any type of injury report but, maybe I missed it. |

Good Morning Theo. Too bad Pirri has a skating deficiency and can’t or won’t play defense, but he can sure shoot the puck. Sell high! Also if I was a betting man, I would bet that Soderberg will not be a Blackhawk after this Monday. |

That's a reasonable guess Nostradamus.
Out of curiosity I took a look at who the Hawks have picked in the 5th round and of course, a majority never played an NHL game but, there were a few names of note:
Shaw
Kruger
Wisniewski
Bob Hoffmeyer
Davey Logan ( a Pulford project pick)
Gilles Meloche
A 5th round pick is certainly scratch-off lottery ticket territory.

There’s nothing stupid about being respectful. I’m sure if you or I were native we wouldn’t be too happy to see that stupid stereotypical caricature of the MLB Cleveland Indian logo, or some of the other teams logos. Not being a minority I have no idea how it feels for my race to be classified as a mascot? But if a minority group says it’s insulting don’t you think it’s best we take their word it is and make a change?
One of my daughters got a job twelve years ago teaching at a Native community 1000 miles north of Toronto on the west side of James bay in a community called Kasketchewan or ‘Kash’. The only way in to the community is to fly in or to take a winter snow road. My daughter was aghast (another cool word Mo) at the Blackhawk logo. However when she went there she was surprised to find all the sports teams in the community, hockey and baseball all used the Hawk logo on different color sweaters. When she enquired why they didn’t find it offensive she was told the depiction represented a dignified and proud depiction to the natives. This changed my daughter’s perspective about the logo. It also doesn’t hurt that Blackhawk management reached out to the local native community to get their blessing to continue to use the logo.

Pirri has an unteachable skill to shoot accurately and quickly but refuses to learn a teachable skill, to play defense. I’ve never understood why some players are too lazy or proud to improve themselves? |

I wonder what Vegas would be willing to give up to take one of their goalies off the books? Issue is Fleury is playing Lights Out and clearly their #1. |

I would think that this season in Rockford has been extremely difficult. COVID late start. Guys bouncing between the Rock, the Taxi Squad, and the NHL. In-season signings. I wonder if it will have a negative effect on player development and assessment. Hopefully in the Fall we can return to something closer to normal. |

Yup remember when Pirri and Morin (another who couldn't skate) were unhappy because they thought they should be playing regular shifts, but Q hated young players. |

I would think all of that would be teachable. Shouldn't one be able to learn how to fire a quick/accurate shot. It's a physical skill that one should at least be able to improve on if not master through muscle memory (playing a musical instrument). I would think it would be more difficult to learn hockey IQ/situation recognition/positioning (writing music). Yes you can be shown on a video (or even in practice) what to do during various situations, but it is more abstract and you have to make decisions in real time.

Is it stupid to protect your brand? It's like having an employee who's really irresponsible, if you fire them then you have to pay unemployment, now if you document everything this employee didn't do more times than not you won't have to pay out unemployment. United is giving themselves an out and saying to the public we are on the side of progress, which most times wins out over time. |

It's a matter of "want". It's fun to score goals and play offense, it's not as much fun to back check and get in the way of shots. |

Good "point" in more ways than one.
There have been reports, stories, interviews, Theo commenting on the plus and minus for younger players moving back and forth like they were a yo yo. While there are advantages in learning, watching, training with the pro's even on taxi squad, obviously more games played has to occur next season.
I noticed a greater degree of physicality in the compete level. Some pretty descent players, not merely fourth line but ascending to third even second line for some of them
Barret has not had a look up here yet but here is one player I single out, as he has an irritating mouth and will follow and check and pound his opponent the entire game. Which we could use. |

I agree, you don’t really need skill to play defense, just awareness and commitment. By the way we have something in common, my daughter is an educator as well. |

Not sure you can teach certain hockey skills, Bobby Hull can teach me how to take a slap shot all day long and I still wouldn’t be able to shoot the puck like him. Pirri has a great shot, unfortunately that’s his only skill, as his skating leaves a lot to be desired, and his allergy to defense hurts his stock as well. |
