Meanwhile, Sam Bennett has played 387 more regular season games and 30 more playoff games than Olli Juolevi - rmull905

This is a fools way of thinking...do you hold onto a stock because it used to be high? Or do you cut bait and make the best possible deal.
This beats the poop out of losing him to Seattle for nothing or paying him 3M next season to sulk - flashfire

Kulikov's not a bad depth grab - why the hell didn't you send us a 2nd for Ryan at -50% retained. |

“He's the type that can fit anywhere in the lineup and play any role. There's a strong push to his stride, which gives him added acceleration and top speed while skating in a straight line. He's always got his feet moving, always maintains a high battle-level, and never shies away from making personal sacrifices to improve the two-way health of his team.”
Emil Heineman scouting report from Eliteprospects.com
Looks like he’s got potential for a good bottom six guy, which is what Bennett would’ve been. Not bad return for a guy that asked for a trade and had seemingly little value. |

One of the things that Tre always says they look for in a player is a high compete level. Dube and Mange are a couple of examples.
One of the things that drove me nuts about Bennett was how he showed at times that he had it, but he could never consistently show he had it in his game.

Give me a break - Bennett's all about coasting and sulking - his higher effort level in the playoffs was him showing what he could do, only if the conditions suit him (aka 1st or 2nd line)
I think there's also some truth to Gaudreau playing s*itty with anyone not named Monahan, to force the coach to re-unite them. And I bet Bennett saw that and said ok I'm going to do that too

I think that was the same year Flames knocked the Nucks out of the playoffs. Good times indeed.

Alternative viewpoint - he made his deadline deal in moving Laine for Dubois.
Outside of a defensive upgrade/depth type move, don't really think they were looking at much, were they?

$2.5 million in cap space and essentially 2 second round picks for Bennett. Will not be difficult to replace for that money, and the pick can be used for a trade if they want. Pretty good return all things considered. |

I do agree. Going to miss his truculence, but if Heinimen turns out and we still get a 2nd that’s not a bad return provided we use that 2nd wisely.
Dube, Anderson, and Kylington were all recent 2nds. It’s a 2022 pick so Treliving might not even be here by then.
Funny how I just watched an interview with Sutter saying how pleased he was with Sammy’s play. |

Just don't use capfriendly's arm chair GM feature as a warning to all - my anti-virus detected a trojan installation attempt on that part of their page.
I don't consider that cap space because Mangiapane and Dube are set for deserved pay raises. Get Mangiapane $3.5-4m/year on the double..pay him good so he stays here long term
