OOPs I guess we have the Leafs 2022 3rd but I thought I read it was 2021 initially. That's ok

Like many of us at one point I believed that rittich was the goalie of the future for us because for the first half of every season during his tenure he legitimately looked like it. After New Years hits his wheels always seemed to fall off quite a bit.
Perhaps last off-season we could have gotten a 2nd for him but given that with the ironic exception of stealing a couple games from the leafs he hasn’t been very good. Couple that with it being a buyers market this deadline left me thinking that we weren’t going to get more than what we got.
By all means his route here and his brother were feel good stories and he had a great personality from what I could tell. I hope he does find his footing somewhere else in the league. |

Good trade for the Flames I doubt anyone else would have wanted him for that price
hope he does well in TO, maybe he knocks the Oilers out of the playoffs and stick flips Drai
who am I kidding they are losing to the Jets in round one |

Good Luck to BSD. He gave us some great games in net (interestingly most of those were against the Leafs). Good guy, and hope he gets a chance somewhere else to be a starter but with Marky here, we knew he would be traded. |

Like I said in the last thread, gonna be real hard to cheer for BSD in white and blue. So I won't.
Hope he does alright there, but (frank) the Leafs |

I would say with this market it’s pretty much a lock we should probably get a 4th for Ryan half retained.
Nordstrom and Ritchie could probably go for 6th or 7ths to teams needing a penalty killer/physicality but if they’re still here after 3pm it’s no biggee. |

Which movie?
I am hoping your team goes on a real run for the end of the season.

Surprising return, honestly.
Something big brewing in the off-season with all these ‘22 picks? |

Wouldn’t a player for player trade be better, couldn’t the Flames traded Bennett for Owen Tippett straight up who is right handed shot RW |

Playoff pedigree is something all GM's value.
Basically two 2nd round picks as Heineman went 43 overall in 2020.

Might be - might also be somewhat of an indictment of the uncertainty around the 2021 draft... |

Yeah I'm okay with that return. We need to shake up our perpetually failing roster, and what basically are 2 2nd rounders back for a bust is mighty fine. Apparently we sent a 6th with Bennett which is nothing of note. |

Interesting factoid...
At number four overall in the 2014 draft, Sam Bennett became the highest drafted player in franchise history. Record he still holds today.
Nothing like selling high. |

That’s my point, I guess. No point in rebuilding this season with so much uncertainty and no clear immediate game changing guy in the first few picks. |

Pretty sure us Flamers already know that buds. Maybe spread that fact in a thread that actually cares? Personally? I'm just glad that chapter is now closed. 10 bucks says Heineman will turn out to be a better player. |

Meanwhile, Sam Bennett has played 387 more regular season games and 30 more playoff games than Olli Juolevi |

This is a fools way of thinking...do you hold onto a stock because it used to be high? Or do you cut bait and make the best possible deal.
This beats the poop out of losing him to Seattle for nothing or paying him 3M next season to sulk
