Glad I will be at work and won't be able to watch that kicking. - manvanfan
Some will definitely be suffering more than others. Going to be a poop show.
“All around it was brutal, horrible for the players, coaches, trainers. Horrible for the team, individuals, families. It was terrible.”
Over the course of December 2020, the Herning Blue Fox of the Danish Metal Ligaen were hit with a COVID-19 outbreak that infected staff, coaches and 17 players in total.
“My case was pretty mild,” Herning head coach Ben Cooper told The Athletic this week. “It was like a four-day head cold. I was really tired, I slept a lot, mild cough. By the fifth or sixth day, I was symptom-free.”
Before heading to Europe to be a head coach in Herning, Cooper, 43, spent five years as a video coach in the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks organizations. He was also the video coach for the 2010 Canadian Olympic team that won gold in Vancouver.
While Cooper’s symptomatic experience with COVID-19 was relatively mild, some of his staff and players weren’t as fortunate. And the aftereffects of their illness had a pronounced impact on player performance over the balance of the Blue Fox campaign.
“One of our toughest players, it was way worse than the worst flu you’ve ever had. He was so sore, he was in the basement — and his wife and kids are upstairs — and he was pacing, he couldn’t even lie down.
“My assistant coach had a fever for 14 days. By the 14th day, he was still sweating, lost his sense of taste and smell and lost it for a while after. Still, to this day, he has brain fog. He asked me in a game once, ‘When do you want to pull the goalie?’ and we had the lead. He said afterward, it’s something he’s thought about a few times, but it wasn’t really him, it was just an aftereffect.
“Everybody had — almost all the players — had some effects with their lungs when they first came back. Obviously, you’re off for a while, so you’re dealing with that, then they had a sickness that impacted their lungs. It was a couple of weeks at least before we were back to normal. I remember our goalie, it was nine or 10 days after we’d started playing again and he had to pull himself because he couldn’t breathe. He came to the room after 40 and just said, ‘I can’t catch my breath.'” |

We ride Mountain bikes, and have a stable set of guys that ride of varying degrees of fitness. Beer guts to fairly buff and sporty riders. One of the later got COVID and 1 month later he was so gased half way up a fairly regular climb. He just couldn't get air in his lungs and had no power. We made a lot of fun of him since he is always near the front and his symptoms were rather mild - headaches, sore chest, a bit of a runny nose, but nothing crazy.
The Canucks ARE DOOMED. There is no way they will be able to keep pace at an NHL level. The season is a total loss I figure. Not because of the tank, but because they won't be able to breathe.
There is also brain fog but at least we don't really have any systems to remember other than make a square in front of the net.

JB just mentioned Green was one of the coaches hit by Covid, I had no idea. Sounds like it's not 100% if he'll be behind the bench for the game on Sunday. |

Petey may not play again this season. Saw a specialist and the diagnosis was not good. |

The league wants the Canucks to finish all 56 games and start playoffs. Why not alter the schedule so that the play all the games vs Jets, leafs, edm first. Save the games vs cgy and ott for last. Play the last 4 games vs ottawa as the playoffs have already started. - manvanfan
The league knows that they won’t make it. All they care about after getting us to finish is changing the draft so we get cheated again. |

They still haven't said, JB didn't say what the injury was. What he did say was that he was hopeful that they would have him back soon but after seeing the specialist the timeline looks to be longer. |

I'm trying not to be selfish but it is incredibly frustrating to go through an entire media availability with the captain and GM of the Canucks and not be called on to ask even one question
--------
People on twitter are actually defending this (frank)en clown. Guy is an idiot. I would just revoke his media pass all together. |

So why not have the season finish to 56 games with two teams that won't be in the playoffs? |

Since the season is lost, keep him out. No sense risking next season at this point. |

Totally. Be conservative as there is no rush to have him back.
The lineup is gonna look fugly, but at least we can see some kids play. Hopefully Gadjovic, Lind, Rathbone and others.
Too bad pods ain’t available.
JB again showing his low key genius by acquiring an entire team of bottom 6 plugs.

That guy would probably ask something about what JB said about Nikita Tryamkin from 2014 draft or something. |
