I have worked in restaurants and invested in them. I know a bit my friend. And paying attention doesnt mean they will survive. Stupid comment and I don’t believe you have worked in hospitality. Perhaps as a dishwasher. How do you cut a restaurants capacity by 300% and make $. Yes cactus club does lots of takeout - CanuckDon
You are correct, I was a dishwasher, and in fact, still do dishes when that’s what needs to be done. That’s what people do, whatever needs to be done.
How do you cut a restaurant capacity by 300%? I’m glad you aren’t my financial advisor! “Well Mr. Vintage, you see the dichotomy of the investment game is that I make all the money and you take all the risk. It’s really a very good system”
Yes, restaurants are hurting. I’ve said it like 5 times on this one page. BUT, if you got caught off guard by this latest announcement then you haven’t been paying attention. It’s not that you “deserve” to be doing poorly, but you should have been preparing for this in any way you can. |

Where have you heard/seen this?
Resteraunts all over the place all taking away parking spots, renting party tents and propane heaters and setting up dining outside. Pubs, breweries, local and even chain restaurants are doing it by my place. - Codes1087
I guess if you are inside a mall, or on the second floor maybe? I know that almost every municipality in BC has extended the rules for patio to allow restaurants to take over what was public space - sidewalks etc. |

It’s ok you don’t understand what I’m saying as you don’t work in finance. 6 hours notice isn’t sufficient notice and is exactly why some lawsuits need to happen. You can’t eliminate your food and labor costs with 6 hours notice. How about a 7 day heads up! Why are restaurant owners the last to know? Pure (frank)ing incompetence that’s why. And I’m not a financial advisor. Thankfully lol |

I was going to ask the same thing
I know a couple in Vancouver that own a few very good restaurants around Gastown and they're hurting through all this. Another friend owns a brewery and they've killed it by switching things up (also because they had some big contracts for some new business ventures and were able to transition some of their supplies to make sanitization liquid at the beginning and killed it off that.) |

Ya the 6 hour thing was utter crap.
It's crazy in New York. Some of my favourite restaurants and bars have shut down where I live (Williamsburg), and some of the jankiest places are surviving. I think they're all drugs fronts, really. |

I don’t disagree, I’m sure they (government) had been planning on this, and the last minute announcement was brutal. Same as NYE. Remember a couple days back when I said they were going to announce that the ban would extend through May? Before the news outlets were reporting it. They still haven’t announced it formerly. They’ll probably wait until 3pm on Monday. (frank)ers
BUT, what I am saying is that the advocacy groups who support the hospitality industry, CRA and BCRFA have been providing in depth and excellent advise to the hospitality sector on how to remain competitive. How to build a winter patio business, how to transition to take out, how to deal with staff and customers. If you were listening, you were ready for this, at least a little.
My buddy owns a 212 seat restaurant. About 150 seats after Covid started. He has a small patio, maybe 7 tables, about 24 seats. He has tables in the parking lot this weekend and is considering delivery service, though I don’t think he will go that route. |

The economic loss for many has been and will continue to be devastating. I know Marwood for example lost his business last March. Those who made it through mostly have adjusted. If you just kept on doing what you always did you are probably a Canucks fan. |

Prairie inn pub, RnR diner, central saanich white spot, a couple breweries on keating. Everywhere I look around here, there is outdoor seating setup where there never was before. I don't venture into DT victoria anymore because of how big of a dump it is, so I can't speak on behalf of that. Sidney seems to be following central saanich as well though, lots of outdoor seating being made. |

When you’ve been cheering for a marginal team for 50 years, it gets ingrained into your psyche. |

Social cultural changing. We gonna make digital friends wearing pajamas eat more fast food and sleep like 3hrs/night cause of the several zoom lives.
The good stuff you never will spend another dollar buying a suit or a tie again.

I have a buddy who’s wife has a “salon” in Mission. Tanning, nails, teeth whitening, waxing, and stuff. All the things Mission girls like and they are BOOMING. Making so much money it’s crazy. No rhyme or reason to it. - bloatedmosquito
Mission isn't the ass hole of the fraser valley, but you can see it from there.
Secondly most people in Mission don't have any teeth. |

JBs fault for not selling at last years deadline, not selling early at this years deadline. If he would have traded Adam a month earlier. Canucks would know where they are in the points percentage standings. |
