And that’s perfectly fine. My beef is not with you guys liking him. As I said, he’s a likeable guy. But to say he’s one of the best penalty killers in the league when he is obviously not is taking it a bit too far. As for protecting him... I just don’t see why.
But TBH there are very few players I would protect on this team. - bloatedmosquito

Given what Vancouver has, I have a hard time deciding whether to or not. He is someone I'd target at as a TDL addition on a contending team, seems like someone who'd seamlessly join a bottom 6 with some versatility, so asset management wants me to protect. But I also acknowledge that by watching him so much I might also overvalue him. He's replaceable but to me the question is protecting the best asset for the right price |

I remember reading a write up about his PK stats last year that went in depth, I'll see if I can find it. His numbers on the PK are worse this year, but he is still clearly in the top group purely based on how many goals have been allowed with him out there.
Frankly, if you were really worried about losing one of Lind or Gadjovich to Seattle, then expose Pearson and protect them both. |

We should petition Webster’s or Oxford’s dictionary to add a new verb: GMJBing = out wit your opponents one day at a time |

I agree. So basically the Canucks will be protecting seven forwards, three defencemen, and one goaltender and don’t need to protect Quinn Hughes, Nils Höglander, Jack Rathbone, or Michael DiPietro.
I think I read that Pearson has a non-contract agreement that he must be protected. Protecting three d-men will not be a problem
So take away the obvious choices and you have two spots for Tyler Motte, Kole Lind, Jonah Gadjovich, Jake Virtanen, and a bunch of fringe scraps.
I would protect Lind and JV with the hopes of trading JV after the expansion draft. |

Have you seen what the Canucks can offer up in expansion?
I am 90%sure that if Lind or Gadjovich are exposed, Seattle will take that player.
Seattle is not going to take everyone's cap dumps, although I am sure they will take a few, with the added sweeteners, but they will want some younger and cheaper players as well. - Reubenkincade
That's the thing: Vancouver has very little to offer. You don't think every single team out there will be exposing a Gadjovich or Lind? Lots of teams will be exposing better players... Gadj and Lind are basically the baseline for expansion picks.
So, the equation is.. if Seattle is going to take on contracts with sweetners, is it better to take Gadj/Lind/Motte from the Canucks + whatever bad contract and sweetner another team is offering, or is it better to take a bad contract and sweetner from the Canucks + what that other team is exposing?
I'm thinking that since the Canucks are exposing sh it players and will probably be drafting low again, it's better to take a pick plus bad contract from our team. |

I mean, at that point, why not expose him? Canucks couldn't find a trade partner this year for him, his value is super – what do you realistically think he could fetch? If Seattle takes him, that's basically a wash. |

Seattle isn’t taking JV.
No need to protect him.
If we can somehow finally trade him , then go for it. But I doubt there would be any takers after this years results.
I’d protect Motte and Lind.
I’d be very surprised if Seattle scoops up Gadjovich after 1 decent year on a fugly Utica team. |

True, but I hate getting nothing for a 6th overall pick. It infuriates me. Just another example of poor management. I’m still have hope that JV can turn his game around. |

Again, just can’t stand the thought of pissing away a 6th overall pick when this team desperately needs top shelf drafting to turn its fortunes around. |

I get it.
I was on the JV train until recently.
Last year he seemed to finally put it together.
He needed to keep the momentum going this season and he hasn’t.
He’s run out of excuses.
He’s a write off at this point imo. |

It's not exactly "nothing", just not getting another player taken. Which is riiiight next to nothing, though.
JV has been given every opportunity. Time to move on. |
