I think that's the plan. If his employer isn't willing to make the team better in the short term, he would like them to facilitate a new employer for him.
I have no problem with Doughty saying he's fed up of losing and wants to be in the best position to win as soon as possible. If his play was suffering as a result of his discontentment, then that's one thing. However, he just put together his best season in years.
