so pretty much anyone they leave unprotected. - Ftown19125
I dont know how to predict it. Vegas didnt just take the best players, they had a plan for what they wanted and the kind of players, and then went to work

I used to feel the same as you. But a few weeks back Bill chimed in on the comments section and explained that although JVR's cap hit is $7M for the next two years, the actual money owed is considerably less. That very well could make him the pick if Seattle is looking for a vet to get to the cap floor.
But I'm sure they'll have plenty of options to fill that "role", so it's still far from a given IMO. I would pay a reasonable sweetner to get them to take one of JVR, Jake, or Ghost. The cap space they would free up is far too valuable to the Flyers to risk Seattle taking someone else. I can't see any other team trading for one of those players without sending salary back in the deal. Unloading one of these guys on Seattle with a reasonable sweetner seems to be the only way to help the cap situation immediately so that any material moves could be made for this off season.
I don't know what I would consider a reasonable sweetner to be. It obviously vary by the player - Big_E_88
they shouldn't give up any other assets, just let seattle take who they want.

They would likely ask for the 13th pick to take Voracek. Would you do that?

That's a tough one. I'm leaning towards no. But I might if I knew what they were going to do with that $8M+ of cap space it would free up for the next few years... |

If the Oilers lose Barrie would Ghost be a potential fit for them? |

Well if Seattle doesn't select one of those higher priced guys, then I think we'll have pretty much the same lineup as this past season. Which I think you're okay with, but I'm not. |

That might be their ask, doesn't mean that is what it will take to get a deal done.

Tippett likes "stick on boards", aka all D on their natural sides, so don't think Ghost would be their ideal replacement for Barrie. |

My honest prediction is that they take Hagg and that is going to suck for us. |

If they go that route Braun is the better option imo.

Voracek goes in expansion.....then sign & trade Coutourier and also move JVR.
Then do the proper rebuild we should have done all along. |

That seems like a lot to pay…but I would reserve judgement until I see what they do with an extra 8 million plus a year….I understand why people see that contract as an anchor but who replaces Vorecek’s scoring? And what’s the plan?
Frankly I dont see Fletcher doing that …but if he did the I would expect something huge to follow. |

I have not been a fan of Jake for the past few seasons but I will say, we would have to replace his 20 goals and 60 assists. That is a hole. Is Frost ready to produce like that? First full year in NHL? Highly doubtful. Patty?
I also read somewhere that Braun could be attractive to Seattle. Veteran dman. Makes sense. I don't think it's a done deal that they select JVR. |

Not a worry to replace his scoring. You can be a better team with less scoring.
A healthier Linblom, a full season from Allison, and whoever the player is in the lineup that replaces Jake will be more than sufficient to make up 60 some odd points.
That doesn't even factor in Patricks potential contribution. Also confident Tanner can produce more than the 12 points NAK provided. Or what if anything from Frost. |

I think 80 points is a stretch. He is capable of that but more like 15G and 45A.

Sounds like the same lines everyone (including me) used when we traded B Schenn. We still have not replaced that. It is not that easy. This team would have to shell up and play Devils type hockey and have Hart play the role of Brodeur...and we don't have the dmen to play that brand of hockey. |

So many manly men on this site shaming lesser men with their toughness and ability to withstand pain.
When in real life they would be begging for mercy on the floor with half the injury these guys play professional hockey with on a nightly basis.
I don't know how the world survives without these bearded flannel wearing supermen telling us how tough they are.

I’d give up assets, but not a 1st. Probably gonna need that to secure Jones. And while we traded for the rights to Hayes ahead of free agency, I wouldn’t roll the dice again on Hamilton. We’ve been burned by that before. |

And I think the Bad news for the Flyers is Seattle will take Myers. Its bad news not because the Flyers will lose Myers, because I think he stinks, but after the ED the Flyers are essentially in the same place they are in now, with an aging and ineffective core and no cap space to do anything about it. - jd250
Most agree Myers will be protected, being a right shot dman, one positive working in his favor (otherwise, he may have been more prone for exposure). It is easy to think these young players "stink" now, but one thing that I've learned from following sports is that sometimes one significant move can change the entire profile of the team. Hate to harp on Niskanen again, but his strong fit impacted several other areas of the team. Just about everyone looked better. Look no further than Jake's +/-, or Hart's GAA just a couple of examples in a long list. It's almost like dominoes. And it all wasn't Niskanen. The bottom 6 missed Pitlick and Grant/Thompson. This impacted special teams negatively, after fixing the problem post 2018 season. I think Myers can thrive on a team with stability, until he can develop into a player who doesn't have to rely on the others. |
