I think 80 points is a stretch. He is capable of that but more like 15G and 45A. - MJL
Jake hasn't had a season with 80+ points since 2016/2017 |

If they go that route Braun is the better option imo. - hello it's me 2050
Why? He is 8 years older, costs more and has the same term left - not to mention they’d have a better chance of flipping Hagg near the end of that contract.
Hagg is the ideal choice for a team like this - just like Vegas - hardly any top players (in name) but the right mix of meat n potatoes type of players that will work and win together. |

he's only had 2 in his career. somewhere around 60-65 is a safe bet. |

He cost 200k more. Not a significant diff at all. Braun is the better player. He is playoff tested. totally disagree they have a much better chance to flip Braun |

So many manly men on this site shaming lesser men with their toughness and ability to withstand pain.
When in real life they would be begging for mercy on the floor with half the injury these guys play professional hockey with on a nightly basis.

2 years left at 6 per year. Not sure that is a wise move. Isn't he hurt anyway?

Should be ready for next season.
Reports that he's waiving his NMC for the expansion draft (he's just team-first like that). Maybe Chucky can jump in there and grab him essentially for free. Checks a lot of boxes: big, fast, RH, does yeoman work in the dzone, standup leader.
The cap hit is large, but the term is perfect as a stop-gap (like Niskanen) to bridge to the kids. His injury history depresses his trade value.
Maybe exactly what the team needs, instead of blowing a ton of assets chasing Jones, or giving out another albatross contract to a UFA. |

Definitely extreme but most certainly the best this era has to offer. I Don’t think Kucherov is gonna slow down. |

Why would the Flyers be able to get him for essentially free? Serious question, I'm not following what you're implying there.
The AVs' ED topic was being discussed on NHL network a week or two ago. I forget who it was talking about it. They mentioned that the AVs were expected to ask him about waiving his NMC for the ED, but that it was far from a given. He may be the ultimate team guy, but someone brought up the point that why would he agree to waive his NMC to leave a top flight contender to go to an expansion team? Or in this case, accept being traded to a team coming off a dumpster fire season like the Flyers? Not that I put too much stock in this, but they also mentioned that he is apparently a beloved fan favorite with very strong ties to the community. Again, I don't think that counts for too much, but it could influence his decision not to waive.
I'm not saying he won't waive. I have no clue. Just sharing that counter point |

Been reported yesterday in multiple outlets that he's already agreed to waive it.
And his injury history, cap hit and apparent decline will all depress his trade value. Avs are also desperate to dump salary before free agency. |

It all makes sense until he is hurt and goes on the IR.

With what happened last season and the effect it had on players like Hart and Myers. Not a risk they should take. Now with that being said, if Sakic wants to give him away and retain salary. I might consider it as a secondary move.
