Good post
Eichel's attitude, celebrating by himself ect.
Bye bye
Gonna miss his talent for sure. Bad attitude....no - Boss34
Don't get me wrong, I was super excited when the Sabres drafted him, but he always seemed to have a chip on his shoulders. Maybe because he was always under McDavid? Maybe cause he was a Bruins Fan and always hated the Sabres as I hate the Bruins? I don't know, but he never seemed genuine. Maybe I see things differently now? |

If we don’t mess these deals up better days could be here sooner rather than later - realsabresfan11

That 70% xGF% team is built and coached way differently than that other 70% xGF% team, and a different brand of hockey is played, and all the sudden a regular season weakness may turn into a playoff strength. At this stage I don't see that as quantifiable.
I like analytics but I don't appreciate the tunnel vision nerds being bent out of shape because "the better xGF% team lost" - TheSabresTaco
i'm glad you said this...

analytics are never an indicator of short term success anyways
its like roulette. the house has an advantage. you might win betting on red 4 of 7 times, but if we start looking at a drawn out sample size, the house will be better.
and who would you rather be? the team that has an advantage, no matter how minimal the impact on a single game is? or would you rather be the guy betting on red, and saying i told you so to the house when you win this time? - robz228
vegas beat the statistical juggernaut that was the colorado avalanche...in fact so did the dallas stars the year before and the san jose sharks the year before that...
kyle "king of analytics" dubas' toronto maple leafs have not made it out of the first round the last five seasons...
talent is great, except with the sabres who've totalled over ten first round picks playing for them at times yet still haven't gotten out of the basement other than a few steps up the stairs...
analytics can be a useful tool, but it's not the holy grail in hockey |

it has it's place...i get that...and i'm not against teams using them...too many people in the cottage industry of bubble graphs and spreadsheets act like it's some holy grail and get people to blindly believe what all those charts and stats tell them |

Maybe eichel's a crybaby boston kid that is very self centered?
I have an eichel Jersey, I've supported him for the past 6 seasons.
As a season ticket holder, he instantly provides on ice excitement. I'd rather see something different at this point.
Maybe a more team oriented approach?
Get (3) type 2C guys.

yeah, and its a non story when the analytical favorite wins like they usually do, because they're usually the general favorite too
are you really going to say going in to next season you'd rather be montreal than toronto or colorado because they won more in the playoffs this season? of course not.

do you really need graphs, charts and spreadsheets to see just how good and talented the lanche and leafs are? |

Colorado was a better team this year than in years past. Devon Toews wasn’t there and Makar took another step. Kadri’s suspension didn’t help things either.
Toronto signed all truculence and traded for Foligno. They went against the analytics grain and when you build a top heavy team and lose an $11M Center, that doesn’t help.

no of course not, but it could help a team like toronto not overreact and sign wayne simmonds or jimmy vesey to try to fix their supposed problems
it could help a team like vegas not re-sign cody eakin despite having a great traditional statistic season and playoffs for them |
