eichel, skunk, gus and mccabe have been on this team since 2015-16...larsson was up until last year - Michael Pachla
Between 15/16 and 17/18
Ristolainen played 1300 more minutes than ANYONE else
between 18/19- Present
Hes's played 500 more minutes than anyone else
He's it. He's the guy. He represents the losing and pathetic play more than anyone else |

they all contributed to a league-worst record during that span as did the crappy coaches and crappy moves made by their general managers - Michael Pachla
Pretending Eichel and Ristolainen both contributed to the losing as if they are remotely the same is some sort of take |

so how much do you think taking risto out of the equation changes things?...which rhd on the sabres would have saved them from "black-hole" risto?...the oft-injured bogo?...montour, who everyone hated until he was traded?...cody "analytics darling" franson?
joker?
miller?
tennyson?
nelson?
could gmtm, botts and/or kagm have traded for the likes dougie? or karlsson? or any other rhd that was traded during that time? |

risto leads the d men in ice time w/o making the playoffs
law of syllogism would mean the same applies to Jack how led the forwards in ice time during the same era |

did jack live up to his "franchise center," no. 2 draft ranking just barely behind mcdavid who has proven to be a generational talent? |

No. For as good as he has been, he has fallen short of what everyone thought he would be. |

Eichel "floating" is an odd take.
Maybe occasionally on a shift change to the bench?
Risto and eichel are probably the 2 hardest working Sabres over the past 5 or 6 seasons.
That's why coach after coach piles the minutes on risto.
You brought up a good point with risto's replacement.
How easy is it to pretend it's all risto's fault, but none of the other Right handed defenders fault.
There have been no options for coaches.
Finally the best drafted defenseman ever played well for the past 15 games last season.

have to wonder if risto being permanently inked as 1RHD is part of the reason they've never even come close to acquiring someone who could assume the role from him
kind of a sign of a bigger problem with the GM as a whole

To date though, he has fallen short.
He was good, he was the reason for excitement. But coming into that draft was.
Don't worry if we don't get McDavid, Eichel will be close to as good. |
