Usually the vets on the job enjoy watching rookies work hard with minimal impact.
Valuing a draft because they worked hard is not an indication of an edge or up the odds they succeed. The leaked info from this organization shows ignorance from management or arrogance from ownership IMO. - washedup20
Here's why it was said or "leaked"
The Sabres are softening the blow for a pathetic Eichel return so that the shiny #3 overall pick + Troy freaking Terry and a cap dump doesn't look like the absolute joke of a return for Eichel it is |

I'm interpreting what was said. It doesn't mean I buy it. I despise the Pegulas and don't trust Kevyn to do the right thing. - TheSabresTaco

I realize how bad of Stockholm syndrome I have with this organization because I somehow believe they will get Fair Value for all of Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto. 🥴🥴🥴🥴 |

This makes sense, just remember its a learning experience for our GM and an exciting one. Super proud. |

If Zegras isn't coming, Drysdale better be.
And I'll take Troy Terry all day long. But he better be the 3rd piece. |

Hmmm, this phrase was TM'd by me months ago.
Ignorance and Arrogance, a damning combination being played out before our eyes. |

No one had more scouts than the Sabres before last year. I don't know why the number of scouts matters, as long as they're picking the right players.
Drafting has been their weakness, so f those 13 scouts they fired. Imo, they didn't do their jobs. - Powerslave
If they fired the bad scouts and kept the good scouts, then why weren't listening to the good scouts all along?

I have already prepared myself to be completely underwhelmed by whatever we get back for Eichel and Rhino. The experienced GM's must be licking their chops when dealing with Adams. If Adams doesn't get a killer good return for Eichel, he should take a pass, let him play this year to prove he is healthy and then revisit it again next spring before the no-trade clause kicks in.

i don't know that we had bad amateur scouts considering how some of these draft picks are starting to look.. but whoever sold botts on frolik needs to be fired |

I don't get why Anaheim is considering gutting their future to acquire Jack.
That team is about as far away from contending as the Sabres are.
I mean if they want to send
* Zegras
* 3-OA '21
* Comtois (or Tarry + Jones)
I'd certainly take it, but man I wouldn't want to do it if I were them.
They finished with 6 more points than the Sabres, a full 20 points behind qualifying for the playoffs.
In no way does Jack come close to closing that gap. |

They were cost cutting. Not saying it wasn't warranted, given the timing. I just don't see how you can make a case that there's been any kind of improvement....or that it was bad in the first place.
The fact that Darcy hired Jason Nightengale is still strange to me. How has he hung around? Were they just not listening to him at all? There's no way an analytics guy likes most the of the moves they've made during his tenure.

They aren’t trading us their top guys. It’s why I never thought it was realistic. No way they gut their system. They will be worse off than we are if they do that. |

I'm not sure if there's a tendency to drastically overrate the worth of picks and prospects, or if Buffalo fans just have a version of abused spouse syndrome after years of losing, but Eichel is straight up a top twenty talent in the NHL. Possibly even top 5 on the right team in my opinion. You can build a team around a talent like him. Zegras, Drysdale, and even Byfield are prospects. You hope they might become that, but odds are they will never be that good. Talents like Eichel are very, very rare.

Totally off topic, but wouldn't it be sweet if the Bills had Fred Jackson in his prime on this team. In my opinion they would be the definite favorites to win the Superbowl. |

Everyone needs to stop thinking their trade proposals will come to fruition.
This is the buffalo sabres give me one reason to believe things will suddenly be different than the last ten years.
They will be giving away eichel and rhino while once again trying to sell the fans on a bright future of prospects that we all know will under develop under whelm or want out once they hit Ufa.

my biggest hope for the sabres, and im not joking, is that it is hard to be bad for a long time in this league
they will even if by pure luck be good again, and it probably will be relatively soon

A story in 3 parts:
Some Eichel thoughts
In any deal for Eichel, the #Sabres need to be getting back a high end prospect + a first round pick, & that’s the starting point. If they can’t get at least that, they should just wait. Other fan bases will see this tweet & say it’s too much. But it’s not.

It's actually way too much and I am not saying that as a fan. He is not a top line guy anywhere except for buffalo.

Sure, but 90-95% of the players that are in the league were drafted at one point or the other.
Also in a flat cap world, building out a roster with talented players on ELC’s is a must.
Unless your Vegas or Tampa and get good players at a 25% discount due to state tax laws, in Tampa’s case going $15M over the cap.
Do franchises overrate their prospect pools ? Sure I can accept that.
However I don’t blame them for doing so |

Bring back Wade Phillips to run your defence while your at it. Sucked as an HC but man can that guy coach a defence.
