What if it's
Anaheim: Eichel
Sabres: 3, Drysdale, Comtois - Buff36
I'd be content. If they managed to do any better than that, I'd be thrilled.

That's not "mortgaging their future" and it doesn't mean they need to win now. Eichel is 24. This is absurd. - SoCalPucks
Gutting their future was the quote.
It isn't absurd...It is exactly what GMTM did years ago.
How did that workout having left exactly zero in the pipeline?
Look at that roster and tell me who you think wins that deal in 3 years. |

Fair for both, but since we aren't getting raped, it's unlikely. |

Slim to none.
However with the current composition of the Ducks roster they may be better off keeping Zegras and Drysdale and 3rd overall and staying the course. - Pegullaville
I completely disagree. They realistically don't need any of the 3 if they were to acquire an Eichel.
Their team is really missing a 1C. Has a solid amount of Vets for some playoff experience. The rest of the guys are 23-29.
Eichel puts that team in the playoffs.
I am very bias though as I want their prospects.

I'd consider it IF Sam returned Vilardi, Turcotte or Kupari - IonSabres
That's actually why I think I would consider it, because I believe Sam will go to LA for 8 and either Turcotte or Vilardi. |

Yeah I think I would to. I have said all along and still think his injury will affect things. |

Let's use this example as it's pertinent to the topic at hand: Chances Zegras, Drysdale, or any of the Ducks prospects turn out to be as good as Eichel? - kingcong39
At this point, what are the chances that those players are as much of a problem as Eichel is purported to be?
Sometimes the real leader of the team isn’t the most skilled. Sometimes the traveling leader of a band isn’t the lead singer.
But what do we really know??
A few months ago I was waiting for Eichel to die of a Coke overdose that everyone was talking about his big Coke problem.
No one talks about that anymore so who knows? |

I really wish I shared the same belief. Turcotte and 8 might be favorable for buffalo. All these GMs are looking to Chiarelli GMKA so I don't see it happening personally. |

Who said those guys would be better than Jack 1:1?
Is Jack better than say:
Eklund/Guenther
And
Zegras
And
Comtois
That is the question. - IonSabres
Eichel makes 7 million more than all those guys combined. It’s not even close who would come out ahead in the trade. People discount his cap hit like it’s nothing in proposals
Three young NHlers who all look good plus 7 million dollars in cap space for an injured 1st line center. I’ll take the first group 10/10 times. |

That's the contradiction here. If you can't judge JB's drafts yet, then how can you say they produced very little?
A rookie GM, with no AGM's, and a skeleton staff isn't something I can defend. - Lunaion
Why are we limiting it to Botts? I'd bet that many of these scouts were there w Murray, maybe even some with Darcy. GM's don't just come in and completely gut a scouting dept when they're hired (unless told to by ownership, lol). |

You're right, the Ducks would 9/10 times unless Drysdale and Zegras both exceed what they're expectations are.
