Since CBJ might not want the "malcontent" Eichel, would Rhino make a lot more sense going that way? And the Sabers need a goalie, so....
Rhino for Elvis + Bolts 1st or the block buster:
Rhino + Risto + a2nd for Seth Jones + Korpi I don't see Seth giving assurances that he would re-sign though.......Unless yawl hire his favorite coach! Torts!! - HenryHockey
Would much rather go the UFA goalie route with both CBJ goalies heading that direction next summer anyway and with the Sabres in part 382 of the rebuild.
Reinhart gets a top-10 pick imo
If you want Risto, I'd take the Bolts pick |

Lance Lysowski (Buffalo News) on the 22 people fired last summer:
The Pegulas were anticipating having no fans or reduced crowds amid the Covid-19 pandemic, a significant blow to revenue in a league dependent on attendance. However, the Sabres owed Botterill, Sexton and Greeley their annual salaries for the next two years. All but two of the fired scouts were under contract through 2021-22.
I'm curious if that means the Pegulas are still paying them or if their contracts were voided. If they're paying them anyway then what was the point of letting them go? |

Typically in pro sports, assistant and support coaches and main scouts are typically on two year contracts which are extended 1 year annually, to give them a buffer year to get another job if they get let go. That is why it is a news item when coaches are in the last year of a contract...

So would the scouts be paid for the remaining time? |

Question for everyone, what player in the NHL would you trade 1 for 1 with Jack Eichel? |

If they don't sign Ullmark before the expansion draft, it's a great opportunity to sign a goalie that someone else is forced to expose. Doesn't have to be Columbus. If it is, it could be Kivlenieks. Could be a guy like Khudobin or Allen.
If they simply protect an unsigned Ullmark, I'll be disappointed.

Idk, I wouldn't spend assets to trade for either one of those guys. There will be plenty of goaltending available for free on the market. I'd go for one year deals for two guys.
Or pay the minion his money |

The open protection slot is an asset. I'd like to see him use it. Shopping for 2 UFA G's could end badly, and most likely would.

Scouts make around 30K a year. High end is around 45, low end is around 20-25.
Terry Pegula's superyacht cost 75M with an average running cost of 5-8M per year.
10 scouts at 30K is $300,000 for an entire year, which equates to about 5% of the total running cost (6.5M avg), which is about 17 days worth of run time.
A 2 week vacation on that boat for his family will pay 10 scouts their yearly salary.
(frank) you Terry, you banana eater.

What would you offer him? I struggle to come up with anything that I'd be happy with and would also keep him from wanting to talk to other teams.

I guess it depends on what "ends badly" means to you.
If the Sabres are trading the big 3 this offseason then I don't think Khudobin or Allen are going to stop it from ending badly any more than 1 year deals for James Reimer and Petr Mrazek would.
Save the picks for the rebuild |
