but if he signs, is he going to be one of the protected players from expansion? or does his camp wait until after the draft occurs to resign? |

Lots of deals are being agreed to and put into a desk drawer until after the expansion draft

To say that Zach Hyman wouldn't fit In with any other team like he does In Toronto Is a ridiculous statement and Impossible to prove, To the contrary what team couldn't use a Zach Hyman? |

I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is a surprise. Toronto has said all along they would like to bring them back but they also said they can't afford them. So Zach Hyman walking away I thought was like a 95% chance which isn't quite a surprise. If Toronto was smart they would do like the hurricanes and let him start talking to teams then do a sign-and-trade so they don't lose him for nothing. But that is pointless also not sure a team would want to make a special arrangement for 8 years on him |

Only in Toronto, who overhypes Hyman value that he is worth more that $3.5/4 mil a year. Where is his $2 mil a year less than what he could get elsewhere hometown discount that so many Leaf fans expect him to give? |

"On Zach Hyman...
There are reports today that Zach Hyman may indeed be leaving Toronto...I am not hearing this at all, but there is indeed some spin machinery at work here... At the end of the day, the Leafs feel Hyman is hugely important, especially when it comes to balance and grit, and Hyman knows that there isn't another team out there where he could thrive and fit as he does for the Leafs...
But Hyman's group wants it to be known that it is not yet a DONE deal. And there will be more posturing...to come.."
Give me a break . . . there's no other team he could thrive and fit. Please. I'm sure there's several. |

Really have mixed feelings on the entire discussion. I think Hyman is an important piece for the Leafs. Worth in the range of a $4.5m of cap for 4 or 5 years. There are not many teams who have the cap space willing to step up and make a $20m offer over 5 years. My guess is Hyman ultimately decides to stay in Toronto for $4.25m over 4 years. |

Don’t get me wrong, I love Zach, he brings it every night! But honestly there are lots of players in the league that bring it every night that won’t need to be paid what Zach will be demanding!
Strange watching Kutcherov play for Tampa, and he’s making $5.5mil. Pretty sure I’d take two of him over one Marner. Dubas got fleeced on that one, because even in year 6 of his contract, Mitch will never outplay his contract. Why do the Leafs constantly overpay!? You have to have the backbone to let them walk and move on to someone else wanting to earn their way up! Pretty sure there would be lots of takers to play on that line with Matthews and Marner. |

Close? Very close? Imminent? Highly imminent? Talking or seriously talking? What is the reality of Zach Hyman? Is it real? Or very real? Does Zach Hyman even know his own reality? |

Brindamour is an excellent coach and the Hurricanes are one or two players away from being a serious cup contender. See how this plays out in the weeks to come. |
