Curious about who was available during their search and why they decided on these two guys compared to the rest of the field. At least they didn't pull a Flyers and hire two head coaches in the Assistant role only to flop as usual.
It's nice to see Stothers get an NHL job. After winning the Calder Cup, he looked like a potential future Kings coach, but the Kings opted to promote assistant coach Stevens, instead. I assume that they also liked the job that Stothers did with the Reign. Without as much success in recent years and going a year without a job, perhaps he figured that an NHL assistant coach position was his best option now. Either way, good luck to him and Anaheim seems like a good fit with their youth movement. That might be a partial answer to your question, Asplancha, along with the fact that the Ducks saw a lot of him when he Gulls played the Reign and may've liked the way that the Reign played.

Amen! If something wasn't done about the coaching staff then you know the tank was definitely on. Got a kick out of Flames fans laughing about the Ward hire. I just pointed out the Ducks PP percentage, especially at home, and they shut up. Kings fans I've talked to are pretty pissed about the Stothers hire, they said this has Solomon's name written all over it. Perhaps Barstool Bob is taking his golden parachute and riding off into the sunset next year and Soloman will have a bigger say along with Madden. Here's hoping!
The Ducks are getting a gem in Stothers. If LA management didn't completely screw up both the Kings and Reigns he would have been behind the bench in LA but we're stuck McLellan and Rob Blake.
