You guys are lucky your GM has identified 9 top prospects. Our GM , trying to get a peek at Benning’s list doesn’t realize he’s picking 12th. - K-man25
Maybe Benning will trade you the 9th and his top 9 list for the 12th and a 2nd. |

Reading some stuff from Lou L about the offseason. He has 5.7 cap and 17 players and he thinks he can make everything work. This is going to be fun seeing half the league on LTIR

The league has allowed the floodgates to be open on the LTIR, so I expect to see a revolving door on it for the next couple seasons.
I wonder if Bettman will try penalize teams for this at the next round of bargaining?

Seems odd with so few star power players on that team that they are up against the cap. Guess it’s the $5m guys on the third line? |

Even though its happened twice, ever. Prior to kucherov. - neem55
Not knocking Kuch at all, he's a great player who somehow comes back at a really high level after injuries
Just saying it's partly him, partly the team. If TB lost to the Isles in game 7, he wouldn't have had the opportunity to hit 30 points. Going back to back SCF is the reason he's been able to put up those points, and by putting up those points the team has been able to get to back to back SCF.
If the Avs go back to back SCF, I'd put money that MacKinnon (if healthy) would do the same. |

They will appoint a special investigator to determine if players are really still injured, and if not force teams to activate them and sort out the salary cap. Or maybe they’ll make a new rule that says if you haven’t played X number of game’s (in any league) you are t eligible for the playoffs?
I’m thinking this guy would be perfect for the job. A Doctor and a ruthless businessman.

Yeah, he came into the league at what 18? So he’s what, 27 now? Maybe the cap will be $100m by the end, or maybe he’ll simply MTA… - 1970vintage
It's way too long, dumb move by a dumb organization. He just turned 28 in April which means he'll technically be 28-29-30-31-32-33-34-35 for an eight year term, but still, why do GM's not understand that signing forwards past the age of 33 is a really bad idea? Unless they're on league minimum. |

Probably because his cap hit on a 4 or five year term wouldn’t fit on the Oilers, and Holland has had “success” in the past with super long contracts for aging stars? |

Should we take him off the "BC Connection" Canucks team, then? |

I would be fine if Canucks sign Derrick Brassard to a 1 year deal. Might be a nice 3LC. |

Doubt you see Ladd back . LTIR like Boychuk .
The thing is NYI have very decent cap structure for their players and are still against the crunch. League wide something has to happen. You have to keep players coming out of ELC but you can't overpay your vets either.
I am old school so I personally don't think that someone named Pouty deserves 7 mil , but as I said that is just me.

How do you feel about the Flyers going after Seth Jones? I get the feeling Flyers are going the wrong way.

With Nuge signing it will be interesting how Holland makes out with Adam Larsson, if he does at all. |

Reinhart, arvidsson and garland all on the block. I think we acquire one of them in a trade. |

Hopefully they fix the D more than anything, but Reinhart would be great. |

Friedman says flat cap for 5 more years so better to be low key & not sign big contracts. |

With his cap hit, getting Arvidsson would probably give us the flexibility to get help on D as well. |

Big contracts will continue to be signed, Nuge just got $41m.
Why are you worried about it, don’t you trust Benning to manage the cap? |
