For sure. I do remember people (including Mickey Redmond) wondering why the team didn’t work on shooting with the players. Bringing Tanguay in to address that is a really smart move. He can still get on the ice and provide visual aid. I love that Yzerman went outside the box (again). No recycled staff member. Someone new and who played recently |

He and Blash have the same hair style. So there is some cohesion. |

I’m hoping Tanguay will take the coaching staff suit shopping. He’s got some slick duds! Maybe get them to re do ZZ Top “Sharp Dressed Man”, spinning fur guitars and all |

Duncan Keith is being shopped...37 yo at $5.5+ AAV for 2 more years and still logs 23+ TOI . Has an NMC, so I doubt he would come here. But 2 yrs is just right for the yutes to blossom! |

I think they’re looking Western Canada or Seattle. He’s from Western CA, and those were the only destinations mentioned so far |

Just seen a post stating that Tony D can play the left side as well. Does that move the needle enough for Stevie to offer him a contract after NYR buys him out??? Maybe he tries to go to a red state because of his politics? I think someone is going to take a chance because he can play hockey well.

Could we be possibly looking at the next new head coach a year from now? |

That’s an interesting drop. It’s a big jump with no head coaching experience. Still, interesting. Thanks for that! |

It might become overwhelming for Blash keeping up with the Press laying into him about keeping his job. Tanguay will become a head coach here or somewhere else.
Another unexpected move from Stevie, but welcomed. |

I like Tanguay coming on board. I think talent exceeds, or supersedes, animosity. Kid was a rocket on the PP, think I read somewhere around 250 of his 600+ total points came on the PP. That bodes well for the Wings. We need help on the PP, but we also need that "fresh" vision that he can bring tot he team. He can better relate to the "kids" at this point. And maybe his is the Coach-in-Waiting, but I think he'd do well. Recycling used-up coaches really is a failed process. Doing the same things the same way and expecting different results is the definition of..........
I see so many improvements on this team since The Captain came home. It's a vision of caring, growing, getting better. It's refreshing. Exciting.
I'm disappointed that we look to lose The Gas Man, I liked the nick-name potential!! But he also showed potential. And really, playing in Detroit is a chance for a guy to build, or re-build, a career. Sad about his departure. Would really like to see some changes in the G department, as everyone here knows all too well. Holding my breath....looking holistically at what posters are saying, taking it all in.
That's what's so wonderful about this blog, Jeremy. This is the impact you have on your readers. You give them impetus for opening their minds to other thoughts, views, and opinions. That, my friend, is a gift. And you use that gift very well! |

The Red Wings and Colorado rivalry does exist anymore and hasn't for a longtime. |

Hard pass on Keith.
Props to him on a hell of a career. He belongs in the Hall of Fame one day. But he certainly does not belong on NHL ice anymore. Age has not been kind to his game. |

Agreed, I would like to see him pursue coaching, work with some young D-men.
He certainly can be intense. |

I was joking with a friend about this. Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco, Duncan Keith left his teeth (and probably a hip flexor) in Chicago. I hope they give him one heck of a send off and if he returns with another team, that montage better make people cry. He left everything on the ice, and I love that. I really hope he stays in the league in some capacity (or returns after a brief respite). Fantastic hockey mind. I keep hoping Lidstrom will return one day too…. |
