From what I hear the ask for Eichel is, it would gut us & gut our future. We have a chance to add some pretty good prospects this draft because Covid has really impacted a large shelf of players that will fall as late as the 2nd & 3rd rounds.

Hearing Tarasenko wanting out, & has been linked to Flames. Immediately they speculate for Tkachuk but you wonder if its Monahan to St Louis for Taransenko + something.

Tarasenko is a wing. Makes 7.5 for 2 more years. Flat cap. Find the math.

Agree but if St Louis added their 1st & we added our 2nd so we can move up, I may consider it. We need a top 6 RW which Tarasenko should be if he's fully recovered from that shoulder.

That shoulder is why he wants out.

Would you do Sam for Tkachuk 1 for 1?

Even as an outside fan...
A anti-flame fan....

Not even close.
Tkachuk for Eichel 1 for 1 is closer than Sam 1 for 1.

Well that's just silly....Sam played Center and was on a 38 goal pace, but that's somehow insulting? BTW, Flames are my Western Conference team, always loved them. Wish nothing but the best for them!

Well shucks, thanks. Buff would need to add to make that happen. I like Reinhart but I value Chuky's contribution much more.

I think whatever happens to Gaudreau will reflect entirely on how realistic management and coaching are with this team.

If they want to rebuild (like I think they should) the answer is easy, sign and trade to the highest bidder for futures.

If they want to contend sign Gaudreau to an extension and spend what you have to make the team a contender before Gaudreau starts to decline.

Worst case scenario we sign Gaudreau to a big extension this off-season, management does nothing else to improve the team, this whole thing goes off the rails and we find ourselves embarking onto a rebuild by the trade deadline anyways.

Most likely and probably best case scenario for the fans: JG goes unsigned this off-season and the team waits until the trade deadline to decide what to do with him. Sutter wants to win a cup but wether or not the team is capable of doing so is a bigger question. Signing one of this teams’ most valuable assets to an extension this off-season based on an unrealistic expectation of this roster could be very well looked at as asset mismanagement in hindsight years from now. Not committing right away allows us to move him for max value if things crash and burn or sign him to an extension later if this team does see a resurgence which isn’t impossible either given how bad the pacific division is.

I know I may come off as harsh and I would love for this team to prove me wrong but I look at it very similarly to what happened with mark stone in Ottawa. In hindsight they should have got a lot more for a guy that’s one of the best wingers in the league but it is also a fact that the later years of his contract and decline would probably be a problem for a roster that is mostly at the start of its prime. All this assuming of course a rebuild/retool is coming, no sense in keeping a player that will be a burden when it’s over.

My biggest question is why bring in Sutter?

Sutter says he wants to compete for a cup. On the other hand, he said the Flames were a bubble team at best. He also mentioned that you need center depth to contend.

Does Sutter have any input on how the team will be constructed? If he does, does JG fit his style? I would say that is a hard no.

Lots of questions and there is the potential for a lot of changes this offseason.

But its the Flames and I am also prepared for disappointment.

A) Damage control after an underwhelming effort in the first half and the fan base justifiably seeking Ward’s head anyways

B) the owners are the real clueless ones pushing the message about wanting to compete and being unwilling to re-anything. Same as what we saw from 2010-2013.

I don’t believe sutter would sign on if he didn’t get input. Not something I’m super concerned with our current roster as I don’t believe we’ll contend during his tenure but I do have major concerns about prospect development and drafting. Say what you will about having too many undersized skill guys but I don’t see many of the big stronger guys we drafted past the 1st round on the team.

Torts is fairly comparable to sutter and the few skilled guys he had managed to succeed in Columbus so I’ll keep an open mind when it comes to JG. His play in the second half keeps me optimistic as well.

I’m not as hard on Tre as some of the others here and part of that is because he does play it safe. It can also be his Achilles heel but I would rather be disappointed than outraged because he traded for someone like OEL or Keith

Signing Gaudreau to a huge extension would be a massive mistake because he would then be untradeable when the Flames will anyways be mediocre in the next few years.

Whatever happens, the Flames will have to rebuild within 2-3 years, it's pretty much a given. So they better not handcuff themselves like the Sharks did.

Treliving isn’t rebuilding unless he gets the word from the owners. He’s fighting to save his job, and you can bet he’ll do everything in his power to do so. If Mc Johnny will sign a reasonable contract extension he could be a Flame for life. I don’t get all the talk about him not performing in the playoffs. He’s been the victim of disappearing linemates the last playoffs. So many others get a pass, while he is scrutinized for his play.
The biggest thing for me this off season is that they fix the dressing room, there’s something going on in there that hasn’t come out yet. Never mind what Eastcoast buttplug says, it’s just speculation as he’s failed to provide any link to his dribble.

On another note I called for a #1 line of 13, 28,&19 well before Sutter finally put them together. Just wondering which one of you is Sutters alt so I can direct my exceptional ideas directly to you.

Sutter has no idea how to turn on a computer, let alone have an alt on this site... he's old school.

My post wasn't about what will likely be done, but rather about what should be done.

We all know that the Flames will make a bunch a very bad decisions in the coming weeks.

Who cares about Todd and his 5 things to watch for format. Guy hardly watched the Flames and lacked imagination in his writing. Don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.
John’s already shown he’ll be a more hands on writer that will provide material to generate conversation.

Glad you made it back from Mexico, all the mock drafts seem to think the Flames are taking Sillinger at 12
