excellent as usual Karine. I don't think MB' MO will change even if he only has 1 year left to his contract. I'd be surprised if it did.
I also think he's had enough, the year was difficult. expect him to sign elsewhere next summer, my money in on the LAK.

true, DD will probably get a 3 y contract. if he's as good as we think he is, that shouldn't be a problem for the next GM.

Bergevin has said several times that he would not make a trade that would compromise the future of the Habs so I believe he is thinking long term even if he moves out of the GM chair. He said he wants the team to be a contender every year. True to his word he has not traded away a 1st or 2nd round pick at the deadline in the last six years or so, and has added 2nd round picks in many years. He has instead spent 3rd and lower round picks to bring in help. He’s doing it right on contrast to so many other GMs.

As long as he's not trading for garbage (like Stool) or rentals (also like Stool), that is fine by me. If anything, it probably makes sense to try and trade for players in their prime because Price and Weber's remaining good years are running away.
