Devils desperate to get rid of Subban's 9 mil cap hit
they've apparently already paid his 6 million dollar signing bonus, and only have 2 million left in salary to pay this season
that seems ideal for Arizona, 9 million cap hit and only 2 mil in salary |

Is AZ going through ANOTHER rebuild already? |

I agree we’d have to get on board and hope like hell he becomes that true #1 we’ve been in search of, I just don’t see it happening. I’d rather get 2 guys like Dvorak and Horvat over just Eichel bc Eichel also means Zib is 95% gone. Can’t have 3 guys making 10+ each, especially not with guys like Kakko and Laf who will be due for raises soon. - nyrangers9479
I agree with you on some levels. I like Zibanejad and don't want to lose him to get Eichel at this point in time. But a few guys don't equal a true elite player. Sometimes you need that high quality player versus a quantity of decent ones. |

You need balance throughout the lineup though. When a team is able to just bear down on 1 line in the playoffs it could be over before it starts. Look at what happened to McDavid and Draisaitl this postseason. WPG threw everything at those 2 and EDM had no other answer. Once u start paying multiple guys 10+ million it’s hard to have a competitive rest of the lineup. |

Fair points. But I believe the Rangers are constructed better than Edmonton at this point overall. Their goalie and defensive core is significantly better. They also have young up and coming wingers that are cost controlled. Maybe it is time to swing for the fences and bring in a C in his prime that can take them over the hump? |

I agree right now it makes us better. But I think in a few years it costs us one of Kakko or Laf. |

That is very possible and it might be inevitable. We'll have to wait and see. |

That's a problem I want to see develop then cause it means both Laf and Kakko broke out in a big way. |

There could be so many options too.
They could trade Zibanejad for a cost controlled C to clear space to keep the wingers. Or they could trade Eichel and do the same. There will always be options. We see teams get out of these situations all the time. |
