There are hockey trades out there to be made. The question is how bad the Flyers GM want to make one. |

I know I'm dreaming, but imagine if Fletcher could pull off a trade by sending Ghost to Edmonton for Lavoie since they lost Larsson to Seattle.
Update:
What if Edmonton and Philly did a swap...Ghost for Koskinen? |

Wouldn't be opposed to that, depending on the return. I kinda moved on from Sanheim after watching him get bulldozed by that smurf Gerbe. - PLindbergh31
Hahaha! Yeah that was pretty embarrassing. I'm not saying Sanheim needs to be a Bob Probert but that effort was ridiculous. |

CF is on the clock, this offseason will set the opinion on how he is doing as GM. No excuses, make good hockey trades, set the team up short term and long term.
We will know soon how he is doing. |

If they miss out on Barrie i can see Ghost being an option. Rather go after Kassian.
Not sure I want Koskinen. May be better waiting if that is the only option.

I think there is a solid player to be had at #13 this draft.
Previously we have chosen Farabee so it shows that there are some solid players at this number.
I'd hate to see us lose the 13th pick this year. I think we may regret trading the pick depending on who is still on the board at the time.
If we move #13 I want to top 4 damn and hopefully some cap flexibility as well |

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Twarynski, Trade Freeze Ends, Entry Draft, Alumni - bmeltzer
Some general comments, Bill.
1. Yanni Gourde is their 1c. A team with this much attention to cost is not going to take on a vet almost 30 with several more years AND a NTC and a decent cap hit unless they see tremendous value in him.
2. They prioritize defense and goaltending over offense. Quality of players in the first 2 is way above the front.
3. I disagree with you about Giardano. They took on a long term commitment to Oleksiak as a UFA signing. They have Lauzon, Dunn, and a couple of other guys as well on the LD side. Giardano does not fit the value profile of the guys they selected (he is much older, former superstar, maxed out). I believe he will not stay long in Seattle and Oleksiak will be their 1LD going ahead.
4. I do not think there will be some star signings in trades/UFA unless there are huge sweeteners. They will turn on the screws on anyone trying to shed, and if they don't budge, they will walk away. This is the vast majority of their roster.
5. Their eyes are firmly set on the next 2 drafts. I think they will be a 70m or so team. I think their identity will be a solid, scrappy, spirited bunch of underdogs looking to the future.
6. In a city with a start-up culture, where season tickets were sold out within days of availability, I think they will sell out next season even if they are a 60 point team and they are very aware of that. |

Seattle really stuck it to Tampa taking Gourde. Came out today he needs surgery and will miss 4-5 months. Sure Tampas plan was to LTIR him for the year, the Kucherov plan , and save some CAP space that way and bring Gourde back for the playoffs. Wonder if a contender trades for him and uses the Tampa plan.? |

Have watched Oleksiak his entire career. He'd be a disastrous 1D on any NHL team. |

But when did I state that the team drafted was their October roster? I think you're on Facebook too much and confusing what you have read prior with what someone else says.
Once again the Vegas draft of players and Seattle draft of players were basically the SAME, but Vegas received A LOT of draft picks for choosing who they did, which in turn did give them an advantage LATER to improve their team, but that doesn't mean Seattle won't be making trades to improve.
It's almost like you are arguing the same exact point to look foolish. - Glak18
Apparently, according to this board, you can’t have an early opinion about Seattle’s team or their draft process because it’s not October and they haven’t made the corresponding moves that most expect yet.
Unless of course, you have 4D vision and are just that much smarter than everyone else and love their picks. |

saying that the OHL will let players who played 20 or more games in the AHL last year to play there this coming season. That would be great |

I am not disagreeing about his talent. I am disagreeing where they intend to place him.
Tell me why they would shell out a 5 year deal to a guy at pretty fair market value for the position of 2LD when in every other position they have sough bargains relative to those position? |

there aren't a lot of players that can sit out the entire year and then put up points the way kucherov did in the playoffs, so i doubt it. |

This looks exactly like Gerbe bulldozed Sanheim, am I missing something? - shekkie
You are missing a lot
1) Gerbe Bulldozes Giroux
2) Sanheim goes to fight him and falls from losing his balance

I don't see any other options for Fletcher. He has to package the 13th pick with JVR and hopefully entice a team to take it, so he can then have room to sign 1 or 2 FAs. Otherwise, he has no way of remaking this team. Maybe trade Ghost for 4th/5th round pick possibly. But his hands are tied, which Sucks! |

I stated it yesterday and I will state it again, I think Seattle got off to a great start. They got 2 really good goalies and 5 good defenseman. They are thin at forward but they have the number 2 overall pick and I am sure will make trades between now and training camp. But what Francis did yesterday was smart, he avoided taking on big contracts and older players for the most part, and thus has good flexibility. It was a nice start. Obviously as a Flyers fan I am pissed off, but I have to acknowledge Francis did a nice job overall. |

To an extent I absolutely agree. The thing is to me you don't go get Ellis and stand pat. It will be hard but deals are there, he has to find them.
IMO he will not be worried about 3 years down the line. Just like Kay Hanley sings, the here and now.
