Hold up must be because of conditions on resigning, which was mentioned that maybe that changed. So either different conditions or no conditions or no deal. Will see what happens.
Age and development curve are two different things. Cozens played in the CHL and Girgensons USHL. USHL is no where comparable to the CHL.
Girgensons wanted to go to college and the sabres talked him out of it. Girgensons was very raw when he was drafted. - sabresfan69
The USHL is right up there with the CHL. The USHL is better than some of the CHL leagues.
This notion that cozens and girgensons is a crazy comparison is funny. Since up until this point, they've had interchangeable careers, and similar scouting reports. I could be wrong, but I would bet I am not.

Ehh...you're seeing the best players play for the US National 17 and 18 team and them go right to college...
The USHL was catching up, but college seems to be the route the best Americans are going after their two year stint on the National team

So you think Cozens is gonna score 7 goals a year for most of his career?

Prokhor Poltapov to the Sabres, one of my favorite players in the draft to watch. Super skilled, competes. Skating needs to get a bit better, but he put up big numbers in the SHL and looked really good at World U18s. Listed him No. 32.
No clue who that guy is. Way off the board pick - Sabretooth9
actually, mckeen's had him at #33...iss had him at #22

College is more comparable to the CHL leagues as far as talent. USHL kids are trying to get into college. USHL is closing the gap though.
Not too much ranked 36. Looks to have sick skill, decent size LW which is good. Seeger loves him and said he was surprised he wasn’t picked yesterday.
At least it’s not like SEAs pick who isn’t in my top 160

He is all over the place as you will see with the rest of the draft, with Covid and everything everyone has different rankings
