Pegula is tanking for Wright similar to when he tanked for McDavid.
My question is how does management expect Dahlin, Cozens and Mitts (and other core players going forward) to be proud to be Sabres and create a winning culture while simultaneously tanking at the same time?
How does management expect these players to react differently than when 55/23/9 were rookies while literally doing the same thing again? - Theguywiththething
They aren't tanking for Wright. You can't try to lose in the hopes of winning the draft lottery at 18%.

Do we forget that Ralph Wilson was blamed countlessly for being cheap?
Do we forget that Beane and McDermott cleaned house and cut good players that weren’t living up to their end of the bargain?
It’s time to cut bait sadly. I can’t blame Eichel and Reinhart for not wanting to be here either. - Stripes77
That is the part, but players were held accountable too. Vince Ferragamo; Joe Ferguson got ripped incessantly; Tony Hunter, Greg Bell, too many players on D to count, and Ralph was ripped for being cheap but players were held accountable too.
I have no problem with them cleaning house either I am glad they are because what they had and were doing was not working talent-wise or culture-wise either. You can only try things so often with the same group before you cut bait.

See below for the pertinent part from Russo's article.
I find it nearly impossible to believe the bold below is true as it would massively limit the return. Adams cannot possibly be that dumb.
So the Wild and Sabres find themselves in a game of chicken.
Guerin doesn’t want to decimate his franchise by selling the farm, but he also can’t find a way to satisfy the Sabres’ request unless they are willing — or another team is willing — to essentially take $10 million worth of players from Minnesota.
Guerin’s either going to have to be patient and wait out the Sabres until their asking price significantly drops or simply find other ways to fill out his roster. As of now, Sabres GM Kevyn Adams doesn’t sound like he’s going to drop the price for Eichel, take on lucrative salaried players in the midst of an obvious rebuild, or retain any of Eichel’s salary.

Thanks for the info.
I have heard zilch on Adams' stance on taking on salary, and I've seen no one report on it (until now).
Either he's trying to do Guerin's job for him or he's the only one privvy to that info (which I find hard to believe). |

Can’t wait until we get a player of Say Jack Eichel caliber. That will really put this team in a great position for the next 10 years. |

Things obviously can change by the second but put it this way… from my understanding, GMKA is still getting teams to upbid (for Jack)...

I’m not buying GMKA’s comments about Eichel potentially being on the training camp roster. Behind the scenes he’s been working all he can to squeeze more out of suitors, akin to what he did with Ristolainen

Why? Eichel is signed on for 5 more years. |

The chances of Eichel being in the opening night lineup are roughly 0.1% as the bridge has been burned from both ends.
He gone. |

Where is Power playing next year?
He says Michigan BEFORE he was drafted. |

Think he said he's leaning towards school, but that his drafting team would have a say in it. |

With a good system in place a new player could change this franchise completely around
For example your centers could be Savoie, rossi cozens ,casey that's a good group |

Which makes sense since top centers are not easy to find. How many times did I hear how valuable centers were during the draft because top ones were hard to find and you grab them when you can? Well, there is one out there who is not just a top center a franchise center but he will cost you.

Yea not getting excited.
Why would losing this much not crush Cozens, Mitts, Dahlin, etc the same way it did Reinhart, Eichel, Risto etc. |
