Good draft.

Stay away from Eichel.

Don't piss away money on UFA's.

That is all.

Good Draft -- I agree.

Stay away from J.E. -- I agree.

Don't spent money on UFA's -- I'm not sure I agree.

If the Kings can pick up an established player on 1-2 year contract who will help the team -- I'm all for it.

Give me a 2 year deal for Saad or Krejci or Landeskog (etc) -- I think that'd be a great move for the organization.

Don't overspend (obviously). But we are essentially looking at a 2-3 year adolescent phase -- where we aren't necessarily rebuilding, and we also won't really be competing. Call it our early teenage years. I don't mind making a few bold moves while we are waiting to develop.

Sign Ovechkin to a 10million x 1year contract? Sure. Why not? Maybe we get into the playoffs or maybe we flip him at the deadline for a pick. Win-Win.

I'd rather sign a UFA than flip assets in a trade. And if we can make a run during these "growing years" (within the pain) -- then sure, go for it.

It's a low risk move.

We're probably on the same page. Doubt we can get difference makers for short term. Hall signed a "show me" contract last year, but those were unique circumstances. Leonsis probably gave Ovi a blank check. Landy and Saad are looking for a contender now AND term. We can't offer the former. So when I write "piss" away money on UFA's, don't chase the Mike Hoffman's of the world for 4mm+ x 4+. No good.

None of these UFA's would sign with LA on a short term contract. Saad would want 4-5yr deal. If we want a 1-2 year player gonna have to get them in a trade (or better yet a salary dump). Think like Phil Kessel on the last year of his deal.

I agree that those players probably won't be available, or if they become available, they won't be willing to sign the type of short term deal the Kings should offer.

But if for some reason the right UFA is available at the right price -- might as well pick him up.

I guess if we are going to add one more player, I'd rather it be via UFA then via a trade. I'm growing quite attached to kids in the organization.
