Equestrian in the olympics is probably the worst. Professional golfers going for gold is also a joke.

I've got no problem with golfers being in it. I actually think it was insane that golf was absent from the Olympics for as long as it was.

Same with NHL players being in the Olympics. They're the best, so I see no reason to disallow them.

Need bowling in the Olympics.

Put the best athletes in any real sport in - professional or not. I became an instant expert in trampoline judging and was sure the Canadian was robbed.

For that reason I’d do away with judged sports

Pay them all for being there. The IOC is making billions from these games. Put some directly in the hands of the athletes there.

Also. Didn’t we pay enough for them already? If you finish in 49th in cycling they should have to pay us

Because of the timing? Baseball is being played right now and their season is stupid long.

Makes no sense to put a hiatus in the middle of it to let them go, like the NHL does.

I wanna see the best beat the best.

The only difference between professional and not professional is the money they make, basically.

Olympic athletes train all the time and compete in their respected events on the regular.

The whole idea of banning professional athletes was simply a tactic to keep the lower classes out.

As the Olympics grew, it was also a very convenient way for the IOC to make gobs of money.

Why the hell should golfers, tennis players, hockey players, etc. play for free?

The IOC is the most corrupt body on earth.

I don't mean to be rude, but this article doesn't actually make any sense...

In years past the leafs were already using LTIR space, and therefore could maximize their usage of that by taking on Clarksons contract.

The real reason we made that deal was to become a team spending up to the cap before marner signed, as there was risk of him holding out. With Horton and Clarkson, we had enough salary to convert to LTIR once he signed to fit him in (at the maximum threshold (but thats a bigger explanation)

The leafs have about 1.2 million in cap space if they demote Engvall and other bubble players.

Adding Kesslers salary would put us over the cap, until he's put on LTIR, which would then revert back to 1.2 million.

The bigger issue is that when in LTIR you don't accrue cap space for unspent money, so this is actually the worst possible suggestion you can make.

If we did this, we would have 1.2 million In cap space at the trade deadline (about 400k since 2/3 of the season is done). If we ignore your suggestion, the 1.2 million becomes 3.6, as we would have banked the unspent money. (Again if you want this explained it will be a longer post)

TLDR - this idea HURTS the leafs and should never be considered

I didnt read it the blog, but this ^^

Dubas has said being in LTIR space is not a great place to be and only used it for a specific purpose.

I get that TB used it and won the cup, but they also had to be without Kucherov the whole season.

I like Matthews too. But I did NOT like his smirking fratboy-puppet routine when he was getting ragdolled behind the Habs net.

The Leafs need to stop allowing their stars to get ragdolled.

I've been back for like 3 days and it honestly looks like nothing has changed in here.

Exact same things as when I left. Crazy.

Why would you return here in August? Why would you return at all?

Agree, hence the Ritchie signing. NYR hired Gallant, a goon of a player and certainly a coach that loves having a goon or two in the lineup. His first request was to get the GM to trade for Reeves. Worked for Vegas. Ritchie signing has been under rated. Leafs will need to find a song to play when Ritchie clobbers a knuckle dragger taking liberties with one of their players.
