Ben Shelley: Three players the Kings could trade this offseason

I think all 3 of those players clear waivers, easily. To me, the player out of those three with the most value is Wagner. He’s young, can play physical, drops the gloves and is stupid fast. But even with those attributes, no team is trading for him knowing he, along with the other 2 are going to be waived at some point.

But my opinion, the Kings are going to do a trade, not this season, similar to the trade the Kings made in 2011 for Mike Richards.

Wouldn't a team seeking to acquire any of these guys (but specifically Maatta) trade with the Kings so salary is retained? I don't think that can happen with waivers.

I believe you are correct.

Also, they could wait to see if they clear waivers then make a trade so they can assign the player to their minor team if need be.
