100% agree with the first bold.
Not so much the second bold. The Queefs were his boyhood team. He grew up cheering for them. My guess is that he also thought they were going to be better than the Isles. Bear in mind that they had/have Matthews & Marner and a better roster than the Isles. On paper anyway. Of course, as it turned out, they haven't gotten out of the first round, as you said. And I hope they never do.

Sure he thought they’d be better. With that said Tavares has already taken up to much space on this thread.

I don't blame Tavares for leaving the Islanders. Team was a joke. But if your going to leave at least go to a team that has chance to win. When you leave a team your looking to better your situation not make it worse. Since that signing the islanders went to the conference finals twice.
The leafs have not won a round since the signing. I was at that game. His return to the Coliseum and the islanders fans said it perfectly WE DONT NEED YOU.

he took the money.. period. Rest is B.S. Team finally had a 2C for him that had almost a point a game. They guy swore he was staying and asked to not be traded and then took the money.. period. He lost all credibility and even had other players in the league talking about what a low class move it was doing what he did..

Isles had finally gotten out of first round, had a real coach and a real GM. He is a dope.

Amen..

I think it's funny though when hockey press makes such a big deal out of players who don't sign big offers in Canada until it's structured as heavily bonus laden. That is what Marner did too.. u kept hearing about all these huge offers he turned down, but as soon as they structured it in mostly bonus money he signed. 20% is a big difference from over 40%..

As far as the general public knows, I don't think Eichel is even cleared to play so I doubt he'll be reporting to anyone's camp. Tarasenko...not so sure.

Looks like training camps start 9/22, so we have up to another month and a half of wondering who signed and for what, I'd imagine.

I wish. I'd go to a ton of AHL games if I had the chance.

Let me rephrase:

I'd go to a ton of AHL games if I had the chance, as long as I didn't have to take a boat to get there

There was a rumor that his wife wanted to move back to Toronto. It that is true I'm sure it played a big factor.

Part of having a boat is having to entertain your wife and her friends sometimes
