I am hoping Dahlin will want out of Buffalo and they’ll ask for Hughes in exchange.

Hi started to look into Ty Smith and found this article.

Interesting comments and questions that can also be applied to Hughes. Predicting the future sucks.

Similar .

I know everyone always says send him to NJ but it could be any team. Whomever puts up the best offer. That said I think they will sign him and hopefully at a price everyone says that's okay.

That would be excellent but I think it starts at one mil higher for both.

Exactly my point Hughes and Barrie are very similar. Barrie had more goals and points than Hughes last year and he received a new contract for 3 years @ 4.5 .
- VANTEL

Barrie has been in the league for years Hughes has been playing for two. Different situations at different points in their careers.

But you don't really pay players on years of service. They get paid for performance. Otherwise Thorton and Perry would be making 15 mil each this year.

Thanks Carol!

Without Hughes in the lineup the Canucks probably have the worst starting six D in the league. With him, in the top 25?

I think 6 mil for Quinn is outrages, he's played 129 games, I can't think of a player that got such a raise after 129 games.

I agree I always say 6 max but I think that is what the team should settle on

Cale Makar just got 9M after 101 games. Plus 35 playoff games.

Devon Toews got a raise to 4.1M after after 116 games and only 46 points plus 30 playoff games.

I didn't say owners weren't stupid but I guess it all works as long as there are teams like Arizona to dump the shit contracts on.

If this continues I think we are in for another shut down, the league will ask the millionaire players to help bail out the billionaire owners.

That and buyouts.
I take your point though, the landscape for how players are paid is changing.

That's a last resort.

Mass MTAs will save the league.

Players are great until they need to get paid. It's the same old story.

Carol made a nice overview in the blog. Canucks trying long term, for both QH & EP, between 7-8M as numbers allow.

If long term not agreed expect bridges around 5-7M. Either way they sign by camp.

No debate needed they're not getting traded.
