Karine Hains: Looking Ahead: Cole Caufield Yesterday, the Habs tweeted one single question: how many goals will Cole Caufield score this upcoming season? Needless to say, that got people talking.

I was impressed by Caufield's ability to make a nice pass instead of forcing the play to shoot. He's not big enough to do the shoveling to recover the pucks in the corners, but I thought he was less one dimensional than he could have, based on his reputation of being a shooter.

EDIT: I think his best quality is the pace at which he takes decisions. He plays very fast and that makes him very unpredictable. An ability that very few CH players have so I think he'll be a huge addition to the offense this year.

I doubt that Hoffman plays on the 1st. The kid should hit the 20 goal mark!

Go Habs go!

A lot of guys coming out of college (and even juniors) tend to hit a wall in their first year experiencing the 82-game nhl schedule, plus CC will likely be faced with tight checking as a member of a (probably) #1 line.

I am going to go with 18-22 goals, 40-50 points.

That would be a good first full year for him.

yup

14 goals wouldn't be a disappointment if the kid improves his overall game.

he was on a 17 goal in 82 games pace in playoffs. With more PP time and 3 on 3 OT and playing poop teams he should hit 30+..

one thing I really liked seeing about his game during the playoffs though is that despite his size he isn't getting outmuscled, and compensates with his high hockey IQ. he can be "sneaky good", which should help him a lot in tighter games.

If he only scores 14, I would be disappointed, unless he got murdered after game 50. A Johnny Hockey or Alex Debrincat rookie season should be expected.

I think road game, where the Habs don't have last change, will be rough for him, but we will see.
