Why no Kings make the playoffs if, or Kings miss the playoffs if? |

Go with it. We're in without equivocations. |

The Oilers need to have Smith be as good as last year for a longer season, have McDrai dominate the NHL, the defense being more than an afterthought and the depth provide scoring. What could go wrong. The money is all spent and goaltending is still an afterthought. No money next season for Puljujarvi having a breakout season and needing a raise. Again Smith is the solution next year. |

I'll take that. Assuming the Canucks D can play by committee, I think Demko and the newly structured top 9 forwards get them into the playoffs.
Not too sure about LA though. I think Seattle and Calgary put up a better fight.

Sean Maloughney: Predicting The Pacific Division - Sean Maloughney
NO offense new guy, but your team has yet to even play an NHL game. So I think I am going to have to wait to see what the Oilers blogger has for predictions before I can take yours seriously. |

Whoa, that's a pretty bold claim. Since I don't think you can back that up I feel like you are just saying it to start a rivalry with another team, seeing as the Kraken have yet to make any enemies. |

Good read. Seattle is a huge question mark. Goalie and back end are solid but up front I just dont know. Francis makes a trade or something for a solid offensive player Id feel better about them. |

In all honesty I can see almost every team in the Pacific finishing anywhere from 1st to 8th.
I think San Jose can be better with a regular preseason and not starting the season homeless. They also don't have to face the likes of Minnesota and Colorado this season. Remember they were not allowed to have their limited preseason in SJ due to government regulations. And then they started their regular season on the road for the first full month.

Nice job on the write up Sean.
I think the flames and kings will change places - Sutter factor will be in play |

Wouldn't an offer sheet for Pettersson be a good way to kick that off? |

While Doughty had several bad campaigns in a row, he had quite the resurgence last year. He was very good, much of which had to do with him getting a halfway decent defensive partner for the first time since the Vegas expansion draft.
I don't think you can legitimately say "if Doughty continues to struggle." "If he regresses again" or "if last season was an abnormality" would be appropriate. |

Maybe it's because he never had to play a game against Chucky? Allowed him to stay focused on the task at hand.
This year might be different or maybe LA's got a better team than on the past. |
