I actually like our forward group as a whole, even without Danault. The only true concern is if KK can do well in the second line role, but I think the whole team being strong on the wings should help insulate him.

I think losing Weber is a huge blow to the D though, and the D group overall is probably the biggest weakness of this team. Not much speed or offensive skill back there.

he was never the best skater out there and power type players generally don't age well into their 30's.

tbh, very few 8 year deals age well anyway.

His two way game will always have value and you're right about 8 year deals but otherwise you go higher aav for a year or two less or he hits UFA. Pick your poison but good players always get paid

his value is not very high at the moment, bad timing for a trade. same thing for those claiming for Drouin to be traded, he has to play and show he's still got it before having any value.

Depending on what what the deal is, I'm not necessarily opposed to that, but I'm still far from giving up on him yet. I doubt he would fetch much on his own in a trade anyway, so we're probably better off running with him.
