Honestly, I think he’s behind Aho, Staal & Trochek so he could end up being a 4C, at best a 3C, which is exactly where he should be. Hell, even Bergeron said that now that Danault is gone KK would be thrust into a 2C job this upcoming year and he didn’t sound confident about that at all. Can’t wait to see how it plays out. - Brooks_Light
To be fair, I said 5-6 given where he will be playing in the lineup both in Montreal and Carolina as he will be a 2C no matter where he goes. I also think his production next year will match his 6.1 aav. Will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong though. - Codes1087
Where he plays doesn’t make him worth that. Only shows how weak the Habs are down the middle. He is not a 2C on every team & far from it. A GM is a moron to pay for what might happen.

We will see how he performs next year, whether it's Montreal or Carolina and then judge. |

Always pay for what you believe a player what they will do, not what they've already done. |

Carolina are now over the cap by 1.5 mil with a 23 man roster - VANTEL
I’m sure they’ll be compliant. |

2/2.5m or max 3/3m. In the past nothing special in the future no signs of much more. |

You mean signing LE 6x6 after what he did in Boston was a mistake? |

Benning believed he would be a 40 goal player, he paid for what he believed he would do. |

He signed a player in a contract year, playing top PP and with Bergeron and Marchand on the top line, who was 30 years old, onto a team with a stale/aging roster, and expected him to be a 40 goal scorer playing with two players who were 35 years old?
I mean, the only player who would have been able to score 40 goals on the top line with the sedins when they're both 35 years old would be mcdavid |

I'd agree, but at the same time, he was wrongfully benched and under utilized a lot during last season and playoffs. I liken his situation to JT miller in NYR, when he was regularly benched and used as a 4th line grinder alongside tanner glass until he was properly used and blossomed.
I imagine he plays as a 2c in Montreal if matched, or a top 6 winger in Carolina if he goes unmatched. |

in Montreal he might play 2L but 3L wing at best without injuries in Carolina.

What he did in Boston & Dallas was proving he was a 2-way player. Over paid here was the problem when didn’t do it here.
KK has no track record that gets him 6m |

I'm not sure Petey would sign and the Canes know it possibly. - boonerbuck
So it's possible Petey has been offer sheeted already, I guess. |
