Looks like you have 15.5M to share for your 2 guys...you guys are giving Petterson 9 and Hughes 6.5?
Is that enough with the Maker and Heiskenen contracts?
If Petey gets 8 X 9mil, we should be cheering in the streets.
IMO from his agents perspective, an 8 year deal is coming in at 10+ - NorthNuck
That is fine . It gives the team 3 more years to see if he is worth the value of his next contract. The cap is going up next year by a mil. If it climbs up a mil a year for the next three years and Petey gets 10 mil then instead of now it means the Canucks have three more mil in cap room . They can not afford 9 mil now for a player whose best year is 66 points.
For those wanting a lower AAV then bridge is your salvation 2/3yrs around 5-7M. Both QH and Petey on term will cost beyond available cap.
Believe stretched $16M cap by moving Ferland to LTIR can't happen until camp/season start. But that would be best 8yr offers like 8.5/9M and 7.5/7M (QH).
That would make things super tight for flat cap years but a huge gain to keep core together beyond that.

Petey I'd be fine with 8-8.5 x 8, he's injury prone and hasn't played a full season with missing significant time.
QH on the other hand should get no more than 6-6.5 x 3 on a bridge deal because he needs to show her can handle his own end as well as the offensive end. If he wants to commit to being a 3rd winger or a roving defensemen, then he doesn't get the massive deal. If he commits to being defensively responsible and plays a more balanced style I'd be more willing to give him the money. We need a Hedman or Ekblad like 1D, not a short skinnier version of Paul Coffey.
Eichel's well into prime years with a lot of baggage. Character rubs off like E. Kane. Could be as toxic as the Messier move for current core. - NuckUp
Maybe he just wants to make the playoffs like Captain Bo .

Why are you giving an injury prone player an eight year contract?
