I think it's why most gms match all the time, even when the contracts are insane
from the start, my argument was that he should not match but probably would at the end of the day - deadpoulet
As many have stated, maybe KK didn't want to be in this fishbowl. If MB gives in, KK will face a shyte storm from Montreal Fans and Media. What have you done for us lately 6.1 Million Dollar Man ?

that's a rather simplistic take, rational fans should be able to understand the context as a whole. but yeah then again, rationality and fandom don't always align for a huge number of people lol... let's just hope KK does make visible improvements in his game if this scenario occurs.

It's a simplistic problem, buckle, pay the 6, upset your salary cap and players. Or let him walk and use the draft choices to improve the Team.
I guess I see this as a no brainer for MB, see ya KK, enjoy Raleigh.
This could come down to ego, I hope not, MB drafted Him at 3. He's 21, 172 games in 3 years, .36 points a game, 6.1 million. I have a poopy farm to sell in Afghanistan.
Take a knee Marc and 2 draft picks. - Benny Blanco
If Brian freaking Burke was able to let Dustin Penner go to the Oilers, I have no trouble believing Bergevin could do the same. Same type of overinflated offer sheet for the same type of offensive output. Let's use those picks instead as leverage to find an actual #2 C or use this opportunity to actually tank on purpose for once and maximize our chances of a high 1st round pick.
again, I agree with you, but looking back objectively, who could've predicted the habs would consecutively beat TOR, WPG and VGK with the roster they had and after the season they went through... this is what Bergevin meant when he said something along the lines of "make the playoffs, and once you're there you never know what can happen". - Pat1993
Funny thing is I was calling them cup contenders this time last year, looked like a moron when the season started and was then sorta proven right with their playoff run.
Guehle will play junior or in Montreal. cannot play in Laval. he did last winter only because of covid. and he is not going anywhere in a trade. - fidopro
good, this is reassuring considering the trade would most likely come back and bite them in the ass.

if you look at the first 10 games of the season it wasn't such a silly perspective, but then poop went south real fast.

ugh, the expression "tanking on purpose" simply makes me cringe. such a depressing solution, with absolutely no guarantees.
