The #optobus crew rode it all the way to the stanley cup final and he's still grumpy.
Some fans just enjoy being negative all the time.

bah, I kinda disagree, of course Bergevin shouldn't be surprised by the retaliation, but at the same time he isn't responsible for how other GMs and owners manage their team, and I don't consider the Aho offersheet was this incredibly insulting move that required a vengeful answer.
also, is it the owner that sends out the offersheet (Dundon), and not the GM..? - Pat1993
It's been reported Dundon pushed the offer sheet no Waddell and Waddell has a job nobody else wanted because he's willing to do what he's told.
We can disagree because most people knew revenge was coming the second the Aho deal was signed and MB's condescending comments about Carolina didn't help. In my eyes this is on MB every step and the embarrassment that comes with it |

If I'm them, I don't match, take the picks and the loss.
If I'm Molson, I question Bergevin and co. as to why they are so horrible at managing and developing young players.
I let the season go its course, but I'm looking at getting rid of the "biceps club" and at cleaning house next spring |

Yep. The offer sheet thing was a bad idea from the start. Draft and develop your players better for (frank)'s sake. |

oh right, forgot about the "being vulnerable" comment lol... still, KK's offersheet is an overreaction, and the Canes definitely have their fair share of responsibility for the current situation, it doesn't rest all on Bergevin's shoulders imho. - Pat1993
The Canes are responsible for making MB responsible for this mess and the reason they were chose to take on that responsibility is because of what MB did and said. Being a smug douche can have penalties...

the way I see it is, if I tell a joke for example, and everyone thinks it's funny, except for this one guy who takes it the wrong way and throws me a beer bottle, am I 100% responsible for his actions? might not be the best example but I do get what you're saying.

^not sure I can high five you harder but it all goes back to poor drafting and developing leading to MB's LOOOOOOOONG and ugly line of short term fixes and attempted corners cut |

well if you're not good at drafting and developing, then offer sheets make sense. Aho was stupid because it was such a no-brainer for Carolina to match. if you're use an OS, at least make the other team think. like we're seeing with KK. i don't think this is a no-brainer for Montreal.

Agreed.
This is actually a very good use of an offer sheet, where there are no clear answers for the team.
I STILL SAY MATCH IT BERGEFAIL!

I'm on the fence on matching. On one hand...can't show weakness. On the other hand...I don't think Kotkaniemi wants to be in MTL, honestly I don't, so maybe taking the picks and making Carolina figure a way under the cap while hoping they collapse without Hamilton and Mrazek and bringing in ADA. Maybe try and move Chiarot for a 1st and go into the draft in Montreal next year with 3 or more firsts including what should be a lottery pick of their own. Only MB could burn through all the good will of the spring playoff run this quickly. What a putrid summer for the Habs |

depends on their motivation. do they really love this player? or is this, more than anything, about bending Bergevin over? i have a hard time believing they like the player this much. i think they saw a team that lost their #2 center in Danault and would be desperate to retain their #3.
yes i know we also signed 97 4th line centers.

you can know the people you're dealing with very well but that doesn't necessarily mean you can anticipate every over-reaction, and that it's all 100% your fault... anyhow, bygones, and stuff.. |

At least Aho was a player the Habs needed.
Carolina don't need Kotkaniemi, it's just petty revenge from an owner who's ego was bruised a little bit.
Let's say that offer sheets are just dumb to begin with. |

i'm just thinking ahead to December when a $6-million 21-year-old center has 5 points in 22 games and the Habs are so tight up on the cap they have can only dress 11 forwards for a game in Toronto.
