This is very biased analysis.
Habs are are going to finish around 6-8 seed in playoffs

- The_Price_is_right

(frank), you'd make millions taking this take on the road to comedy clubs.

Habs were gonna struggle to make the playoffs with Weber, Danault and KK.

Paquette, Perrault, and Savard to not that look any better.

of course they can, but why would kk sign a 3x4M extension when he just can wait and sign another 1y deal worth 6+M?

Also, i hear alot of good on KK for signing 6M deal.

Well i just find it plain disrespectful for a player that was drafted 3rd overall agaisnt all odds and that knows very well
That hes worth about half that amount at 21

- The_Price_is_right

yeah, he should turn down the money.

so disrespectful.

he is worth what someone is willing to pay him. its not his fault GMs are generally stupid. take the money and run, kid.

What a difference a few days can do, just this week, I said that I still had confidence in Marc Bergevin, but now, things have changedā€¦

The answer Is simple, Let JK walk and and then the offer sheet blows up In the face of Carolina. Montreal SHOULD be In a rebuild anyway and this would be a great start to that process.

All about potential. I still think he can be a 45-50 point guy if given the time to develop properly.

And yeah, right now, he's a 3rd liner. Exactly where he'd play in Raleigh, learning from J.Staal about how to be the type of two-way player he pretty clearly is.

- BINGO!

JK is so young though. Couturier didnā€™t break out scoring wise till he was 24-25.

Is it a great return for a 21 year old 3rd overall pick?
- BINGO!

Should never have gone 3rd overall. Somewhere 10-15 would have been more appropriate. Poor drafting. Getting a 1st and 3rd for him, while not a home run isn't terrible for a player who although young, doesn't seem to be progressing as hoped. He may still turn into a seventy point guy but I'm guessing no

but Couturier while not scoring brought a strong defensive game. KK doesn't.

I would be the most surprised if KK turns out to be a quality player like Couturier.

Danault, Price and Weber were a big part of that run. Two of them are gone. I think Price has a few good seasons in him, but that centre line is ugly. And I saw Savard coming, but he's not Weber either.

But I think a lot of people forget KK is 21. Sure could be part of a rebuild or another reset.

Exactly, if it's about the money he waits for the QO or tests the market as a 21yr old FA

look, it's not my fault if that bad play on words is now on the main thread. It was only a Habs blog.

That's assuming that the Canes are willing to qualify him at 6.7M. If they aren't, if he can't get near that on the open market and if he likes it in Raleigh, he might sign such an extension to stay there.

Danault albeit solid shut down, is not make or break. I prefer replacing Danault than trying to replace Suzuki, Toffoli, Anderson, Petry, Edmundsonā€¦

Weber was nothing special in playoffs. He was slow and was not efficient on power play. I think Habs actually improve by not having to play him every night.

Caufield and Romanov can improve dramatically.
Adding Hoffman as a scoring winger is a great move.
I think Habs will have a better season than last year with some players having gelled together during last season.

Call me optimist, but i see them 6th seed

if the canes aren't ready to qualify him next year, and paid a 1st and a 3rd for just 1 season at 6M.... they're (frank)ing stupid.
and if they do qualify him next year, they're pretty stupid too.
bottom line, they're pretty stupid.

Agreed can't blame him for taking the money, but after doing this do you really think he'll take a paycut the following years?

This is just icing on the cake for a terrible off-season by the Canes

I still don't understand their goalie moves, sending the kid to DET for a pick. puzzling.

I do... Because arbitration would bite him in the ass if he underperforms.
