yeah I don't think trading away Guhle would help at all in respect to upgrading the defense core
- Pat1993

Those were two different points and you know as well as I do Guhle does nothing for their roster right now unless he's being traded.

Habs should Match.

The pricetag will suck for the next 2 years, but KK will be worth it down the line.

Losing him for a late first and a 3rd 3 years after drafting him 3rd overall would be terrible.

Yup. Still don't think it's all at crazy to give him up if we got Monahan.

oh for sure, I'm aware Guhle isn't ready, and developing dmen can take a bit more time than forwards, but my point is you're less likely to be pressured into trading for a quality defenseman if you stop trading away your most promising prospects on defense.

I agree, that does look very bad. and even if KK doesn't pan out exactly like they wanted he'd surely fetch more than that in a trade.

KK does not want to be a Hab anymore, he won't negotiate a Multi-year contract and you would be stuck haing to qualify him at $6.1M....and then he walks for nothing. Take the picks and go shopping!

I'm sure the Sergachev trade will make them think twice before pulling the trigger (at least I (frank)ing hope so lol)

can they trade him at any time after they matched? I really don't feel like he wants to be here long term. Sure you can match, but does a team wants him knowing he could ask 6.1 M a year with a flat cap?

I have no clue what the specific rules are on this sort of thing, but I'm sure KK and every other GM in the league are aware that the offer made by Waddell was inflated for vendetta purposes.

everyone knows that, but that's what he will get paid for next season and maybe the other after. Why sign long term below that if you can get another year around 6,1M?

well that depends, I know I'd definitely consider getting a lower annual salary if that means more money in my pocket in the end (like a 4M per year deal for 4 years, for example). stability is something that a lot of guys appreciate.

It was. Gauthier was the pro scout who told him it'd be a good trade
