I’m hoping that the kids set the tone early: “We learned that this game requires us the play up a level, so we are.”
The thing that gets me is how officiating can let egregious play go unaddressed. It’s almost like they don’t care, unless someone is hurt (but even then Fudas knocked Glennie out for 19 days….). Then you have officials that over-control the game and dork up the flow. There’s a balance, for sure but play resulting in injury must be addressed. Crippling a player is the expected result, if not.
Cossa’s going to be fine. I’m more worried about Bratt, he looked bad after his injury/issue v Dallas, and not been seen since. Cossa’s got a lot of developing/growing to do. The thing is, and you addressed it above, you have to compartmentalize it, and move on. Cocky can be a good thing…as long as he learns from each game, each SOG.
Pearson’s really looked solid. All of the kids have had high points thus far. I think GR has the potential to be a beast, which is promising for the Wings.
Great write-up, J. As usual, thought-provoking, and well-thought insights. Bangin’ as usual. |

Thanks brother. Brattstrom, I hope it’s not his groin. That is the worst for goalies. When a guy lays on you that’s what usually gives. Cossa will learn a lot about himself this weekend and be better for it. So many goalies come into their own around 25. He has time to understand the mental part of the game.
For the refs, it’s just impossible. Unless you’re a pro, you miss so much. When you’re on that ice it takes a lot of practice to learn to focus and see what’s going on. Players take advantage of that. Just the noise takes so much getting used to.
I think Chase can be a 4th line guy if he keeps going. Our defense needs a lot of seasoning. Veleno, if they wanted to, could have a 3rd line wing spot. But they want more from him. Most of the kids need 20lbs and reps. Lots of reps. I love Raymond’s skill but I would like to see him beef up |

They had to take McIsaac to the hospital and delay the game as no paramedics were on site. |

I got a lot of grief from St Louis fans in my concern about dirty plays. This is where it ends. We lost 2 players to last nights garbage, and now one is in the hospital. It was over the edge and needs to stop. Trying to run down Berggren and blaming the player for being a “wimp”, what a bunch of crap. I wrote about injuries before the tourney for a reason. Dallas, St Louis and now this. Goalies on the shelf, skaters who may lose a chunk of a season (or all of it). It makes me sick. |

Just saw it onTube. Complete and utter bullpoop. There was no reason for a cross-check to the neck & boarding (from what I saw) and no follow-up. Larkin went down last year for it, and so did Glendenning. The league has got to act. Fast. JMac my have sustained a serious neck injury (I’ve had C-Spine fusion, ended my rugby career….).
If this bullpoop continues, I say bag the ALL 3 teams. What I saw was an assault, there was no intent to pull back, and it was followed by a board. Bull. poop.
