Almost as lame as the silly, long run of high-fives to teammates on the bench that we have to endure after every goal.

Roger Mussa: Zajac retires... as a Devil! - Devils Advocate
Played hockey with his little brother Kelly. Unfotunatley Kelly didn't get the same luck with Genes at 5'10", nor the speed. Great kids in that family and Travis is no different. Congrats on the career that saw you in devs threads for over 1000 games of underrated 200' hockey. Enjoy retirement!

I’m kind of disappointed. Last season Travis came to camp looking strong, lean and with extra jump in his skates. Like he had really worked super hard in the off-season. His early play was superior to expectations. After COVID he just never seemed the same. Understandable for sure but I was hopeful he had another good season left. Was hoping he’d bounce back with some time to rest.
Regardless, he’s been a great asset for this team and an upstanding guy. I wish him the best and appreciate he retired a Devil. |

I always liked Zajac. A good player that sadly spent the majority of his career on a non-competitive team. It would have been nice to see him get a cup. Enjoy retirement, Travis. |

Always been a fan of his play, there were never any surprises. Basically you knew what you’d get out of him every night. Great 200 foot game and decent enough point production. |

Travis put up 18 points in 33 games last year (7 goals, 11 assists). That's over a half point per game and pretty respectable for any NHLer. I think catching Covid last year took a lot out of him and he never seemed the same after that. |

"Pav is going to be a center."
Guess we know who the 3rd line center is. |

In that case
Tatar Nico Bratt
Sharangovic Hughes holtz/mercer
Kouk zacha Johnson/mercer/holtz
Wood McLeod Thompson?
Feels like I am missing someone
I am sure there are multiple combos they will try out
Zacha looked much better offensively on the wing with Nico and bratt |

There is 1 devil's player who hasn't been vaccinated and Fitz said it will be easy to tell who in camp but they are trying to help |

The rumor going around is that its apparently Tyler Wotherspoon, who is in camp on a PTO. Which would fall in line with the report a day ago from Masisak that said the entire 'active roster' is vaccinated |

Zacha's counting totals were the best of his career but analytically he was just bad at center and wing. I'm guessing they are going to put him at center again because for most of his career, last year unincluded, he has been a solid defensive forward.
From the interviews today they also intend to start Boqvist at center as well. So perhaps there is going to be competition for that last center spot, which is good. I feel Boqvist hasn't been given enough ice time especially with how terrible the team has been. |

Doesn’t make sense to me. I’d be fine with a trio of Boqvist, McLeod, Janikowsky for 3rd and 4th line centers.
Zacha seemed much more useful at wing than in the middle. Like he did and contributed to good things on the ice. You want good things lol. |

From listening to the interview i pretty much took it to mean that Zacha is going to play center "in camp", because Ruff also added that it doesnt mean Zacha wont play the wing. He said we will see Zacha play center in some scrimmages and play wing in others. Then added that he wants Zacha to be able to play both positions and be comfortable playing both. Also said he wants Zacha to be able to step in to take faceoffs, even if he isnt playing center. Thats what the preseason and camp is for. I have no issue with it, especially if that means one of the kids step up and grabs hold of a top 6 wing spot to knock Zacha down
There should be enough talent on the ice to be able to switch things up and move players around, and I'm incredibly interested to see what line combos are rolled out throughout camp and how they deploy Mercer and Holtz |
