Could you explain how Dubnyk is an upgrade on Koskinen? Or ask your source whether it makes more sense for the Oilers to just see how things go with Smith and Koskinen. If it's a weakness then acquire an ACTUAL upgrade via trade. Guys like Greiss, Korpisalo, MAF could all be on the move as rentals this year.

I would also add that dumping Koskinen's $4.5m hit and signing Dubynk for say $1m doesn't even save the Oilers much cap space. Once you analyze how LTIR works. But the source might know of another moving piece. Like a 3-way trade or something.

Oilers made their bed and should lie in it until at least Jan before making a switch at goalie. By the trade deadline they could get an actual upgrade. Good thing they play in a weak division and can afford to take their time making a goalie switch.
