Flames start slow again, first period was one sided affair. They're going to have to figure out how to be ready when the puck drops.
3rd exhibition game in 4 nights with lots of different combinations. I really am enjoying Gawdin's sandpaper to his game. If he can figure out how to play that way and put up some points, I see him making this team.
Lewis, meh. Maybe it's preseason and we'll see a better effort.
Not sure why Kirkland was our 3rd shooter, maybe he's a beast at practice.
Duehr's not going to make the team but I see a future call up if he keeps up the good work.
Really liked Kylingtons game last night, is it the Tanev effect? Everyone seems to play better with him.
Nice to see Valimaki rebound, was beginning to think he had lost confidence in his game.
Zadorov seems lost out their, let's hope it's only because new system, preseason as I feel that's 1 thing the Flames have lacked the last few years.

Was very happy for Gio last night an early goal that was awesome. After watching him for the game, I'm glad we didn't send any picks to protect him.

Not sure about him but Tkachuk played like he wants to be the captain of this team, maybe that's why his brother is still unsigned. Could Calgary have 2 Tkachuks?

I believe the way we structured his bridge deal, his next contract has to start with a 9. I think that’s the arbitration minimum, correct me if I’m wrong please.

Flames with a 1c like Eichel and 2C of Lindholm are set at C.

But two Tkachuks wreaking havoc is too much to pass on.

That's not really accurate. Arbitration has nothing to do with it.

Tkachuk will be a restricted free agent after this season. The Flames have to offer him a one-year qualifying offer or he becomes unrestricted. The qualifying offer has to be equal to the previous year's salary if he makes over a million. In Tkachuk's case, that's 9 million. If he accepts, he has a one-year contract and that's it. He can't go to arbitration.

It also doesn't mean anything for an extension. If they agree on 8 million for 8 years, there's nothing in the way of that getting signed except for him being a Tkachuk. Since he's a Tkachuk, there's probably a 95% chance he's going the qualifying offer route no matter what and at least threatening free agency because that's how he makes the most money.

I didn't think they started that bad...the goalie let in two awful goals. Especially the Gio goal
