The entire organization needs a coffee enema. Maybe new owners. Not as far fetched as one may think.... - hello it's me 2050
Yo! What was for dinner tonight? |

During the Holmgren years, I was all in. I loved that the team was competitive, was aggressive every year and tried to win every year. They got close once in all that time. My mind set has changed because the league has changed. It's up to each individual to decide what they want. Just being a playoff team is no longer enough for me. I want more. I don't think the Flyers current method of team building is the correct way. People make the false argument that the Flyers still have plenty of draft picks, young players and prospects. As if the Flyers under current upper management aren't going to continue to operate in that manner. Just as it was during the Holmgren years, it's cumulative. The depletion of the prospect base happens over time. The erosion of the cap situation happens over time. The Flyers have potentially positioned themselves in a position where they are a good team that is not good enough and is capped out. That is hockey purgatory. If you are satisfied with just having a more entertaining and competitive team or believe they are a contender then I guess you are happy. Either way, it's time to play the games. - MJL
Time to play for sure.

Pitt looks like they don't give a damn about TB winning the cup last year. And they don't care that Sid, Geno, and Guentzel are not playing. They actually look hungry to play.

You should try the vodka enema at night time. That will wind you down. |

[quote=MJL]Hextall could've traded a lot of players and gotten good assets in return. Including Giroux, Couturier and Voracek.
The same guy who readily complains that Hextall wasn't aggressive enough to try and win now is suggesting that Hextall should've traded a player who was 25 in his prime and had just had a season where he was 5th in the league in scoring and 2nd in the league in assists. The same guy who is tired of waiting on prospects suggests that Hextall should've traded Voracek for prospects.
The Flyers under Hextall or any other GM were never going to tank. Nor would I want them to.
So you dont want them signing FA or making trades for better players, and want them to build through the draft, but dont want them to tank. So really we can expect the same kind of drafting for the next 5 years. rinse and repeat

If you actually had any proof of where I have stated that a team shouldn't make any trades or sign any players. You might have a leg to stand on. As usual you are talking fantasy. - MJL
you dont say it, just repeated imply by poo pooing the trading the youth, blah blah blah. Even though we got ellis out of the youth.

I agree and I don't think Fletcher has demonstrated a lack of patience, at least not yet. However at some point you have to project what you think a player is and decide if that is enough to be a core team member or not. For example, if Frost is not playing on the Flyers by the end of the season, Fletcher may decide his game is not going to translate to the NHL as much as hoped and will move on from the player. You can't let it ride all the way to the end before you decide what to do. - jd250
if he traded frost would be so delightful that i get to hear him complain about trading our youth, even if our youth doesnt perform lol

Fletcher absolutely has demonstrated a lack of patience. I don't blame him though. He just executed a mandate that he was given as he though best. - MJL
can you explain what moves you consider his lack of patience? Patrick? Meyers? Hagg? Ghost? is giving up those guys mean a lack of patience? |

I think this probably the most important point to be made in this discussion. The Flyers as an organization are never going to fully recover from a proper rebuild which would take at least four to five years. Look at how turned off people were by the end of last season, and that was one bad season--that would never work for 3 or 4+ consecutive seasons.

no -- it is a reverse edible, your colonesque enzymes eat at it throughout the night, blood absorbs the THC calming you down, and you clean yourself out in the morning with a coffee enema -- it's science - I follow it! |

Jeff Carter looks good tonight. Just set up Pitt first goal on the forecheck taking the puck from Vasy and centering for an easy goal. |

This team has enough underachieving youngsters - no need to give up assets on other teams poor draft picks |
